Problems after new driver

Hello. I'm new to this forum but I'm hoping somebody can help me out. I just downloaded the newest omega driver (had another omega driver before) and I'm having problems with my comp now.

Its just plain running slow, especially when I move/open/resize a window. Scrolling on a web page or text document is painstakingly slow, each mouse wheel click takes a full 4 seconds and re-draws about 3-4 times. Pulldown menus etc... are also slow.

So anyways, I defragged but this did not help. I rolled back to my previous driver with no improvement and tried several other drivers (newer than my original driver, but older than the cat 6.2). I also check the refresh rate; it was at 60mhz and there are no other options. Troubleshooting suggested that I had a setting on my driver that was incorrect and I think this may have happened when i installed the new driver. I have no idea what to do now.

Sorry if this is a common problem. I tried looking through the stickies and searching but opening pages and scrolling takes so long i couldnt wait. Thanks for any help you can give.

Did you clean out your drivers properly with DriverCleaner Pro before installing new drivers? Make sure you do that and see if that helps. You can get DriverCleaner Pro from www.drivercleaner.net
Good luck.

No i didnt. Ive never done it before, maybe thats the problem. So seeing how I've already installed the new one, i should just run the cleaner and then install the newest driver, right? (well, re-install i guess)

Thanks for the advice I will see if it works.

Edit: ok i uninstalled the driver, ran driver cleaner, and installed the new driver just like the DC readme said to and everything is running smooth again. Unfortunately I somehow lost almost all of my icons. Mostly the default ones like the file folder and the MY COMPUTER etc... but also most of the other ones. I can still click on the blank spot but as you might guess this is real annoying. Anyone know of an easy way to get these back???

ok nm i had another problem so i re-did the whole process. Thanks for the help
