SmartGart Not Working

Hello all,

Longtime supporter of the Omega Drivers here, considering they've fixed numerous performance problems that my various systems have been having since day one.

At any rate, I've been having trouble with a machine I just bought a couple weeks ago (and am completely discouraged at this point too...I bought an Alienware Area-51 5500 because my laptop had all kinds of problems running my games). Now with this system, running the Radeon X1800 XL Graphics card, I am getting bluescreen 100000ea errors periodically while running my games (that's THREAD_STUCK_IN_DISPLAY_DRIVER_M, or 'the infinite loop'). Having searched the Net almost obsessively trying to find a solution to this problem, I am led to believe that I need to increase the AGP Aperature Size, and some tweaks like that.

My only problem is, my SmartGart doesn't seem to work...at all. When I click on "Advanced SmartGart Options" under the start menu, nothing happens. When I go into the Omega root directory on my hard drive and select the icon for SmartGart there, same thing. Nada. Any ideas on why this is happening, or how it can be resolved?

SmartGart is a tool for AGP. . .that machine uses PCIe.

And even if you are able to get SmartGart to work under PCI-express, Omega drivers does not include SmartGart.

Please set AGP Write to off and restart your computer. If D3D is messed up, Smartgart was butchered. If it's not, I'll stand corrected.

I never turn off Fast Writes....never have...and never have had a problem. My system/s work better with it on.

No, I'm not talking about Fast Write. I'm talking about AGP Write.

And just why would I want to do that? My system is AGP...not PCIe. Your blanket statement that Omega drivers 'does not include SmartGart' is shown to be incorrect by my screenshot showing that there IS a SmartGart app included in Omega's. Albeit, for AGP.

Of course, the original poster is using PCIe....not AGP. Perhaps your statement was meant to be: Omega's drivers do not include SmartGart for PCI Express. And, that may be entirely true.

Perhaps we're comparing apples and oranges.
