Sad Problem installing new ati driver

Hey, im just after getting the Radeon x1600 pro, i put in the installatiion cd and everything installed ok. However, when the computer restarts i get a message saying

"No ATI graphics driver installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropiate for your ATI hardware."

Then when i try to install the driver again i get error message 0x80040707, even though all my registry entries are correct.
I have tried everything, including omega drivers and drivers from the ATI support site.
Can anyone please help?
Thank you,
ste787.

Have you tried to manually install them through Device Manager?

Hey, thanks. Yeah, i tried that but still no luck. The computer seems to read it as if its installed, but when i try to play games, or open the control centre it says that there are no drivers. Its pretty strange, ive been at it all day yesterday and today trying everything.

Do you have .NET installed? Have you tried any older driver sets?

Yep, have right version of .NET installed. I have tried versions from 5.1 - 6.5 and the same thing keeps happening.

Do you have the latest chipset drivers installed for your MB?
Have you checked after restart if the video card drivers are correctly installed in the Device manager?
