??? uggly graphics with cat 6.5 and AIW9600XT

I have an ATI AIW 9600XT and when I install cat 6.5 and restart the PC the graphics become 640x480 with 4bits. When I try to manual install I get "Access Denied" error at the end of the copying process and the CCC keep saying that there is no ATI compatible dirver installed.
Curiously with Cat 6.4 everything goes fine.
I would try Omega later and hope it solve the problem.

any help??

what methods of removing and installing drivers do you follow. Do you write over previous sets or use the ATI software removal utility or something like Driver Cleaner

no, my other PC is a notebook
I think is somethings in the drivers cause is then first time that happen and I allways used catalyst since the first one and never had that problem before.
with the AIW 9600XT i've used cat 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 and 6.4 without troubles.
there is something they've changed for sure and looks that conflict with my configuration.
maybe is something wrong in the inf file section corresponding with my card.

I have had similar issues with my media box and 6.5...the video doesn't like to initialize sometimes...

I think I have the same problem.

9600 SE on Via KT400A chipset.

I started with 2.6.87 running fine and removed all tools, software and drivers and switched to Windows drivers.

Installed 3.8.252 -> stuck in 4-bit 640x480
Reverted to windows drivers -> A-OK
Installed 2.6.87 -> A-OK
Upgraded to 3.8.252 -> stuck in 4-bit 640x480
Reinstalled 2.6.87 -> A-OK.
Upgraded to 3.8.231 -> A-OK
Upgraded to 3.8.252 -> stuck in 4-bit 640x480
reinstalled 3.8.231 -> A-OK

Anyone else having similar problems?

IT"S THE DRIVERS, I have been following this issue for a bit because I have the same thing. I have a AIW 9600XT and I get 640X480 at 4bit..so are all our cards bad or is it the drivers? -I have bee trying to figure this one out for a bit and I am close I will post for the forum when I have the solution. There is really nothing you can do at this point except roll back to 6.4 drivers...BTW yeah that is funny I have the KT 400 apollo chipset aswell...hmm
NOTE: DO NOT CLEAN INSTALL THE SYSTEM -it doesn't help and your wasting your time. I think I should start another thred to see how far the issue reaches..
