Email the drivers to me at toshirooc@driverheaven.net, and I will host them provisionally - before you post any links with these drivers, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put up a disclaimer reminding people that these aren't official and untested! There have been incidents in the past at a different well known board where someone released drivers without testing them, and caused all sorts of trouble (you know what I mean digi )

The smaller the better - my hosting account will be limited to 5GB of downloads per month, so the smaller these are the more downloads I'll be able to handle. I've got Winace and WinRAR, so feel free to use whatever you need to to send them to me.

Thats another thing I expect Patje to handle - clear descriptions of what will work with the drivers and what won't - it is most definitely best to be clear and explicit about these sorts of things so end users don't end up the creek with a messed up system because the drivers weren't intended for use on their system or don't yet work on those systems...

EDIT: I looked at his disclaimer, and it included a list of cards and parts the CATs should work with, and they included the IGP340 - no guarantees as to whether they will actually work of course, but they should

Support --> Yes
Will they work? --> Dunno

I don't have a IGP 340M to test with, but let me know if it works, but i believe it should work.

One more thing these drivers will be for Win2k/XP only

Right now i'm waiting on the approval for the disclaimer, but these drivers will be online today.

Second more thing:

This is the second time i modded drivers (first time was for myself) so I know what i did.
Problem, I modded these at work without my laptop, so I was not able yet to test them on my laptop.

My question: Would you guys prefer me testing them tonite first on my laptop and handing them over tomorrow if they work? or do you say what the heck gimme the set and i'll test them myself?

I would recommend waiting - not only is it 2:45am over here and I'm getting sleepy, but a little bit of prelim testing may help find a couple of bugs that are easily correctable before the first release. However, it is your call patje...

Good Job Paje!

Usually I mod the new Catalyst releases by myself, but this time I ran into a strange problem I can't seem to fix (see my post on the "official" Cat 3.1 thread).
What Mobility cards have you tested your modded drivers on?
Have you just added the support for the Mobility cards or you've done some sort of other tweaks?

I'm really waiting to see if you had more success than I had!

I decided to wait until I get home and test them myself first.
Cause if they don't work, i might let a people down, and I don't want that.

It is now 12u30 PM, I get home at about 18u00 PM, first thing i'll do is test them, then I'll probably have to go to my girlfriend (..sigh..) so I hope to test them and post them before that.

Btw. I also removed the Control panel form the file, Size is now about 5 megs. So you can start downloading the control panel already

I did not tweak them for one reason, i don't know how lol, they are just modded that's all

Can't wait for your modded set patje!
This morning I tried again to modify the original ATi set, but I eneded up with the same result as yesterday... Weird flashing/shifting gray screen with random horizontal and vertical lines.
I checked more than once my .inf file, but it seems allright (at least to me).

I really hope you're set is going to work on my laptop...

Omega and Cyborg might be working to help us in our efforts for updated mobility drivers: we're not alone!

On a side note: a girlfriend is much more important than a bunch of files!

patje....good job with modding the drivers for everyone...

AvA ... i know you tried modding the drivers yourself...i wonder what problem you had...i saw your thread where you mentioned:

Quote:
Those who are wondering how to do this wonderful "magic trick" can have a look at this old DH thread and follow the instructions
using some common sense as to where to put the fixes i used the same method and mine works great. I'll have to compare it to patje's and see if it's any different. ... they're great drivers...take care
