Sad Error *HUGE PROBLEM* in omega drivers

Well I just formatted my laptop which has a Radeon 7500 ATI Mobility card and it has Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 1, not 2. Anyways, I just tried to install the latest Omega Drivers (based on 6.5) but I get this error:

http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/412/error4rw.jpg

It says it can't copy atiicdxx.ini. I don't understand that. When I installed my friend's Windows XP Media Center Edition on my laptop and the omegas they work fine but when I do a complete clean restore using my DELL restore disk, I get this error. Does not having SP2 installed have anything to do with it?

With the media center edition of XP it did have XP2 and it wouldn't give me this error. Anyways, what should I do to fix it? I thought at first I did something to screw it up but I formatted and reinstalled XP and still the same error.

Also, how do I do a complete and proper uninstall of the omega drivers when I finally do get them installed for the future?

Delete the installation file and download it again. You should also update you windows to SP2.

Proper uninstall can be achieved with the help of a little program called Driver Cleaner Pro.

After a certain point ATI drivers REQUIRE sp2.

I don't know why anyone would still be runing with out sp2 ((shudder)) the full pack
wieghing in at 280mb compressed. It was almost sold as XP second edition, since
it darn near a new OS.

The problems people were experiencing with SP2 are long gone.

I've had SP2 now for ages. It really is a MUST.

However, that error with Omega's is due to you getting the wrong file. You need to download from an updated site and the error will go away.

Try this one:

Heh I had REAL problems updating to SP2 - as soon as I updated, I lost all forms of internet access. This was on a Toshiba laptop though, with Windows XP Home SP1. I stuck with SP1 on the laptop, but THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH MY PC!!!! That had Windows XP Pro SP1. Sorted the problem though - I had to register mshtml, and a few other things with 'regsvr32' to get internet access back - worked fine after!!!

Don't notice any differences of having SP2 over SP1 though - apart from slightly better CPU usage (bu might be just in my head).
