Cool! ATI Omega Drivers 2.3.92 for 2k/XP

Well, my modified drivers based on the Catalyst 3.1 release are here, this are the major changes since my last release:

* Based on the official 6292 ATI drivers (Catalyst 3.1)
* Added support for the following chipsets:
Radeon 9100 (old Radeon 8500)
Radeon 9500 Pro
Radeon IGP 340M
Radeon IGP 345M
* Re-added 720x480 (NTSC) and 720x576 (PAL) resolutions, some users need
this for proper video editing.
* The SMARTGART control panel is FINALLY GONE in this release. I manually
disabled it this time, so it should not appear, even if upgrading from
a driver set that has it enabled. (let me know)

Get them here, in the ATI section.

I'll add mirrors as soon as they become avaiable...

See ya!

Omegadrive, can I change the SMOOTHVISION II SETTINGS from your default settings of Aplication Preferences being schecked to forcing all apps to what level I want. I did not know if this would hurt anything you ahve tweaked in the driver set. Also is there anything else I shoud not touch?

Thanks for all your hard work

cmac, the only settings I don't recommend messing with are the ones found in tweakers, like Rage3D tweak, the ones in the ATI CP at are your disposal...

I just heard from Zardon that the server is always REALLY hit hard by any new release of the Omega drivers, and if things get bad, DH could die for a bit, so I'm going to post my mirrors, despite their 2.1gb left of transfer left this month to help take some of the brunt of the downloading - but only for members of DH (and why this is only being posted in the member-only forums, and not the public news forum).

First of all, thanks for all your great work. Just one question: Do these fix the Mafia and 8500 flashing test issue? Thanks.

These are just the 3.1 CATs, but with image quality tweaks, as far as I can tell, so if the 3.1s didn't fix the Mafia problem, then the Omegas probably won't fix em either...

These are superb drivers. I tested all ATI's original drivers and didn't get any of them working with 3DMark2000, 2001 or 3DMark03 on my system. I have Asus A7V mobo (KT133), Duron 1300MHz, Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB. I installed Omega's ATI drivers and now the 3DMarks works.

BTW is it my mobos chipset that isn't compatible with the ATI's drivers and 3DMarks???

"Special note:
THIS DRIVERS ARE MADE FOR GAMES, NOT BENCHMARKS!!!
THEY FIX GRAPHICAL ERRORS, STABILITY PROBLEMS
AND SOME SPEED ISSUES ONLY IN GAMES.
THEY ADD VISUAL QUALITY, STABILITY AND MORE OPTIONS.
IF YOU WANT DRIVERS FOR BENCHMARKS DOWNLOAD ATI'S
ORIGINAL DRIVERS INSTEAD FOR 3DMARK2K1 AND OTHER
BENCHMARKS." (r_omega2392-2kxp.txt)

And I would like to know why Omega driver's are not recommended for benchmarking...

Is it because they score badly
or
is it because they score better than ATI's original drivers???

THANX already!

The Omega drivers sacrifice a very minor amount of performance for a very significant amount of image quality increase, but benchmarks don't give a sh!t about image quality, just FPS, and ATI's drivers give a bit more FPS... are you SolidSnake88[CSR]? What happened to your old login?

Not the same snake.

ToshiroOC, thanx for answering.
I still would like to hear the answer to that another question.
Why is it that Omega's drivers are working perfectly with my system, but the ATI's original aren't???

Hehehe, another SolidSnake to needle about sounding like a pr0n star Anyway, probably the Omega's have a fix or tweak built in to them that the ATI ones don't that is fixing something that otherwise keeps the ATI originals from working perfectly. If you can explain what the problem with the ATI originals was, someone (maybe even the famously busy Omega) might be able to explain it to you

Cool! omega+cyborg+unwinder.......

What about incorporating the softr9700 patch in the omegadrivers....?
You must agree it´s an appealing thought, well at least for radeon 9500 owners....

Try installing them manually through the Device manager...
