The drivers from the website wont install. Everytime I try it says stuff like Cannot copy file and INF file is missing (Thunk.exe) . But when I try to manually install the drivers it half works. As in it installs, but when I restart it doesnt use ANY drivers for the video card at all and everythings video choppy. I have also tried the drivers from http://www.techpowerup.com/softmod/downloads.php
Those actually TRY to install at first before giving errors saying ti cannot copy an ati dll file for some reason and then stating that the files trying to be copied are way older than the current ones installed. Then it gives me Copy File failed and missing INF etc etc. What is the best way to get the latest drivers for my card? Thanks Edit-I also have no options in my ATi Control Panel. Besides Welcome and Displays Manager which doesnt even work. It wont let me use my second display. What is up with these crappy drivers that are hard to get working? Edit2-Well I restarted and now the CCC has all options but my device manager said it was running drivers made in May. The one windows come with are ATI and are made in June. So I figured screw it Ill uninstall these and use the ones Windows had. So then I unsinatlled all the drivers and ATi Software, but now I cant get the card to install with the drivers that came with Windows because it cant find them anymore. Everything on 64 bit Windows is running smoothly except for getting my card to work properly. Well and installing the media center remote drivers on there, but thats another story. Any advice would be great. EDIT3-After the 8th attempt of doing the identical thing over and over I finally just installed the ATi drivers manually (again) and now they work. However I have no control panel, is there any way to download that seperately? I know if I go through the installer it will mess up my drivers again. I am having the same trouble with my Radeon 9800 Pro and Win XP. I run the installer and I get INF file is missing (Thunk.exe). I have tried to load manually with no luck.
How did you get yours to work? Sure would like to get this running again! Thanks! |
