FPS help.
Im playing a game called warbirds and im trying to get the FPS rate up. No matter what i do the fps is maxed at around 62. So i figured there is a refresh rate cap. Im not very good with the settings but i looked around and all the stuff that says refresh rate overide is dissabled. I then looked at my Display>>>Settings. Under my primary display 1 it says "Max refresh 60". Is this what is keeping my fps maxed out at 60? If it is, is there any way to increase it or disable it? Also is this just my main display? in other words if i hook a different monitor up to it will i get a different refresh rate max?
Thanks for the help!! |

You can check the Vsync option under 3D under the All Settings Option. Look fore vertical sync and set it to always off. Also you may want to set Antialaising and Anisotropic Filtering to Application preference. List your PC specs so we can help you further: Processor Video Card Motherboard Memory Drivers used

If you've set the VSync to Always Off, you may also need to reset the Refresh Rate for your selected Desktop Resolution and then select "Same as Desktop" in the settings.
Depending on what resolution you're playing in the game, AND, the capability of your display/monitor you may be able to see an increase in the FPS. Sometimes, the monitor settings limit the ability to increase FPS so make sure to select the highest refresh rate your monitor is capable of for the particular resolution you choose. |

Depending on what you have installed the specs of your system are as follows:
AMD Turion 64 Mobility M-37 2GHz 1MB Cache ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Chipset Radeon X700 128MB 1GB DDR PC2700 (2x512MB) Windows XP Home Edition SP2 Do the following. Make sure the drivers are updated especialy installing the AMD processor driver: 1.) Download the following drivers: AMD Turion 64 Mobility Driver: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/cont...mdcpusetup.exe ATI Xpress 200P Chipset Driver: http://www.ati.com DirectX 9.0c December Redist: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en Microsoft .NET 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en ATI Catalyst Driver 6.12: http://www.ati.com You will also need to download driver cleaner and mobillity modder. 1.) Uninstall the following components from add/remove programs: ATI Software. .Net Versions. AMD Processor Drivers. If you do not have any of this software installed don't worry. 2.) Boot the system into safemode and run driver cleaner. Clean the SP2.CAB and DRIVER.CAB first using Cab Cleaner found under the Tools tab, then proceed to clean all ATI options from the main menu screen of driver cleaner. 3.) Boot back into Windows and install the drivers in the following order: AMD Turion Driver Xpress Chipset Driver DirectX 9.0c December Redist .NET 2.0 And finally the ATI Catalyst Driver ( Read step 4 ) 4.) After the ATI driver has unpacked itself to the default location run Mobility Modder. When prompted to install the driver click no. Open My Computer, Local Disk C: and you should see a folder labled ATI. Open the ATI folder, open Support, Open the folder and then double click the Setup.EXE file. Follow the onscreen instructions. After the computer has rebooted open the CCC in Advanced mode and chage the following: Set Antialiasing to Application Preference Set Anisotropic Filtering to Application Preference Set Catalyst AI to Advanced Set Vertical Sync to Always Off Disable VPU Recover Editional options: If you want to squeeze a few more FPS out of the card you may have to drop the IQ a bit, changing the mip map detail through the CCC will help. Now the X700 Pro Mobility is not the best of video cards when it comes to performance, its a great card and most low end gaming systems I built in the past I used the X700 Pro 256MB GDDR3 cards. Your card on the other hand is an X700 Mobility with DDR1 support so performance may not be what you are hoping for. Most likely you are right in the range you should be with that card. Hopefuly with the driver update I've given you, you might be able to squeeze a few more FPS out of it.
