ACEEventLog... What is this???
ACEEventLog is a New entry in my windows Event Viewer... it references "cli", a process associated with ATI graphics cards. I have an nVidia graphics card. How do I get rid of this counter/process.
Thanks

In almost all cases, changing from one brand of video card to another it's best to do a fresh installation of the OS. It's also usually the least troublesome and less time consuming. To do it otherwise, requires total removal of all previous driver references. Sometimes using DriverCleaner Pro or some such Registry Cleaning programs will help. But, for my own part, I much prefer a fresh OS installation and it's over with in a hour or so. Good luck! |

ACEEventLog appeared in my Event Viewer when I installed Catalyst Control Center. An it stayed there after CCC uninstallation. Even DriverCleaner Pro doesn't remove it. I used jv16 PowerTools to find and remove all "aceeventlog" from registry. You can use windows regedit, but it will take a little more time.

Thanks to you both...
Good day,
Thank you for your replies. The first reply saying that I should reformat because I changed cards is impractical. I have the same hard drive contents from 5 years ago and could not afford to lose it all. I have upgraded computer components (including motherboards and hard drives) and retained my data. The second comment ref using jV16 tools worked! I used REGSEEKER from because it is freeware. I also booted into Safe Mode to delete "C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\ACEEvent.evt", and I no longer have the entry. I am curious... the file extension ".evt" refers to an event LOG... is the event counter still operating and I simply removed references to it? Or, is the process removed? Respectfully, J.

I tried "exctrlst.exe" ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...B-793193604BA4 ) from microsoft and did not see the process running. I assume that it would show here? Comments???

I'd say that by removing it from registry and deleting related files it is completely gone. And I think you can't see ACEEventLog as separate process in task manager - it is/was running under windows Eventlog service, which you can see as services.exe.
You can try Process Explorer instead of Task Manager for more detailed information about running processes and services. |
