Default Post GTA3 and Plutonium/Omega Drivers -- Not So Good?

Hey, I saw some messages with similar problems like I'm having, but nobody has responded and I think it's a pretty big deal. Here goes:

I just installed the newest Plutonium/Omega drivers, and they installed flawlessly. However, when I try to play GTA3, all I see is lighting effects (some people described it as sky and ground, grey, blue, etc.). For instance, you can see the fire from the first scene in the game but nothing else. How can I fix this? Somebody said that they had GTA3 running great with some Plutonium 123blahblah driver-- but where do I download it? Or, do I need to? There must be a way to fix this problem.

Here's another question. This plutonium/omega driver came with an overclocking utility. How much can I safely overclock my card before I start to have problems? Surely theres some "safe standard".

I really want GTA3 to work well. Here are my bare system specs:

ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 64MB DDR
Athlon 800mhz
512MB PC133 RAM
Windows XP Pro

Thanks to whoever takes the time to read this, and a major thanks to those who reply

-Chris Putnam

Hey, another dude with the same problem!

The thing I discovered is, that it seems to be a Radeon 7500/Plutonium-Problem only!

Everyone who's reporting this bug (me too) owns a Radeon 7500 and as soon as I use the Omega-Only or ATI-Drivers, everything is fine again!

Cyborg, would it be possible that you grab a R7500 from a friend of yours to localize the setting which is mixing up the GTAIII graphics??

I know GTAIII is rather buggy, but it works with all other drivers on the R7500!

Thanks in advance!

On Omegadrives site, http://www.omegacorner.com, at the bottom of his ATI Radeon-section, you will find a link "Previous Drivers Page"!

There you will find the Omega-XP-set 2.1.71.

This is working fine for me and I hope it will do for you!

Well I'll talk to omega about it, thats a problem for sure, but I am kinda sick of releasing sets based on 6071, so I may wait until the next driver to fix any more bugs, (I will certainly try though.)

I need to get GTA3, and maybe i can duplicate the problem on my AIW Radeon 32DDR.

About overclocking, the safest setting is the one the card came at.

But for an AIW7500, I say 290/190 is very safe, as it has the same ram as the 8500dv which comes stock at 190, and the core of the 7500 (same on aiw and regular) comes at 290 for no-aiw's. Well IMO thats the safety zone

Fine thanks!

Nobody is talking about the 6071's, it's just that we have this fixed in future drivers or I'll have to stay with my current drivers forever ;-)!

cool, some replies over here

I already posted on this board and I think it's not only a problem with GTA3.
Command 'n Conquer Renegade won't work (and as far as I know Half-Life doesn't work too)
only old or really easy-build games work (testet with Midtown Madness 2 trial and a freeware game from Scoda *G*). I have only got few games but I think this could be a generic problem... By the way: Monitor+TV doesn't work well either.
something got really mixed up I think with the R7500. *g*
Hope this can be fixed.

The problem has been found and will be resolved in the next set of drivers ;-)!

Default Post i feel your pain

I have a ATI radeon 8500 64 mb edition and GTAIII runs weird on these drivers. Some textures pop up late while driving. And after a little while, the game craches completely. I am REALLY looking forward for a fix for these problems!!
