Hey Omega, will you be making drivers for MS Vista? and if so, when do you think that the first set will be available?

Hi everybody.
Being satisfied with the omega drivers on my previous system, i used the recent ones based on the catalyst 7.1 on my new computer with a powercolor radeon 1950pro extreme (PCI-e). I experienced some serious issues in some EA games (tiger woods 2004 and NFSU2). With reinstalling the driver from the start menu, they seem to be gone for now, at least with NFSU2. With Tiger Woods it was rather a game issue i believe. However, I do have some questions left, mostly cos i didnt need many of the features with my old graphics card: 1. Whats up with that SmartGart Option? Is it only relevant for AGP cards? Cos I cant "activate" it. Clicking on it under start menu does nothing, and its also stopped under services and not possible to start manually either. 2. Is it normal that any approach to overclock the powercolor radeon 1950pro extreme (gpu as well as ram) results in graphic errors and crashes? the gpu already runs at 600 mhz, however, i read that the ram can easily be overclocked to 800 mhz. Mine doesnt even make 720 though. What settings do i have to make exactly and where under the ATT. 3. I would like to reduce the speed of the fan of the card, however, the options in the ATT that are supposed to do that, dont do anything for my card, hence, the supposedly silent Artic Accelero on my card is the loudest component in my system. 4. Whats the ati hotkey poller that always needs to be shut down each time i wanna start the ATT? Can this cause a problem in the games too maybe? I'd be thankful if some of the experts could answer my questions and maybe give me some hints or links on how to configure my graphic card and the ATT correctly, not just overclocking-wise (which i dont need so badly anyway). Thank you

Great, Omega + my new X9150XT.
Big thanks Well, i'm geting a error message. I was with a X800GTO and Catalist 7.1 with no CCC. With my new X1950XT and Omega Driver , after reboot, windows keep asking for a vga driver. When unnistaling: RUNDLL Unable to load c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32atiiiexx.dll I did use DC. Last edited by RatusNatus; Jan 26, 2007 at 11:10 PM. |

If you use ATT or RivaTuner however, you can leave it ENABLED. ATT (when you use the Overdrive 3 overclocking) and RivaTuner will automaticly overclock the 3D clocks. As for how to tweak the ATT, there are too many options to go through. You need to read the available tweakguide for it over at tweakguides.com http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_10.html In this guide, everything (i really mean everything) is explained for you. I read it and trust me, you wont regret it as itīs really helpful. Good luck! |

Camaro3377,
Does that card have a temp sensor or fanspeed contol sensor or overdrive support? If it doesn't then the hotkey poller has to be disabled at boot by whatever tweaking app you are going to try and use for the overclocking of your card. |

Thanks a million x1800XTTOP for the detailed answer. I will read thru the link when I have some more time, too.
And thank you GSXR, indeed I believe my card has a temp sensor, this is why I was suprised about the level of noise, even in the apparently slowest speed it can make. The fan doesnt even get faster, at least not that i can hear, in games or benches. I will keep trying, esp with the Riva tuner or wait for the next release of the ATT. After all, that card isnt on the market for too long. Other Radeon 1950pro, as the Sapphire (Ultimate), seem to work fan-wise under ATT already though as I read. If I understand it right, I can turn off the Hot Key Poller anyways when I want to overclock my card at all times. However, my prefered setting would be to have the card overclocked in games and silent (e .g. underclocked) under Windows. Hopefully I can figure out how to after reading the tweaks site ![]() Thanks guys for now. |

Are your temps displaying in ATT?
Is the fan speed slider greyed out in ATT? If so then your card doesn't have either the temp sensor or fan speed contol and will never have it. That is why I got rid of my Visiontek version. Ray Adams has posted in the ATT beta thread that with the latest beta 1.2.6.981, if you disable the overdrive feature in the ATT ini file then the cards without those functions will now be able to be overclocked in driver level overclocking. I can't test this because I now have the HIS card and it has the sensors and works fine with driver level overclocking. Its worth a try. |

Finally got to check it out, and yes, I can see the temps in the ATT. The fan slider isnt greyed out, in fact, I can move it, but it doesnt change anything for the fan speed.
My main problem now is, that I keep getting freezes in games, even with the standard clocks. Temps stay below 50° C, Benchmarks are running well and its not reproducable, it happens at different times and different game situations each time. Right now its happening a lot in Test Drive Unlimited Beta, which of course isnt a good example for obvious reasons. The only other game I could test so far was NFSU2, which would crash with the same graphic errors and freeze at first too, but after reinstalling the omega drivers this was gone. I might have to try the drivers that came with the card, apparently there is a modified version of the catalyst 6.9 or 6.11 on the powercolor cd and some users in other forums reported that a lot of the problems with the 1950pro card were gone then. Unless anybody here has another suggestion, I will try this later this week. This plug and pray is tiring

As long as you have a temp sensor and fan speed control then you should be able to use the 7.1 drivers and the latest ATT and run ATT in driver level overclocking instead of low level. This way you can completely shut down the hotkey poller from xp and not have to have ATT shut it down at boot. Then you should be able to delete any previously created profiles and recreate new ones and have the fan speed slider should work. |

I am not even bothering with the fan speed and overclock anymore, since I am still getting bad graphic errors and freezes. Reinstalling the driver from the start menu seems to solve it for a while, but I kinda suspect something destroys certain ati dll's from the system folder. I got it in Doom 3 too, but it would let me go back to Windows, where I found it changed to 800x600 resolution. It said it encountered an error with ati... .dll (unfortunately dont remember which one exactly) and after reboot it will sent a report, which it didnt, at least I didnt get any auto feedback.
I am running a little script here to shut off services and close ports (http://ntsvcfg.de/ntsvcfg_eng.html). At the troubleshooting it says, that there can be problems with the Catalyst drivers as they need RPC(with binding to LAN interface) and DCOM (incl. the Distributed Transaction Coordinator service). The omega drivers arent supposed to be affected, but maybe that changed. I looked and the only thing disabled from these services here, is Distributed Transaction Coordinator. Is that needed for the proper install after all? Maybe somebody had the same problems and knows a solution. Is there any way to check if the driver files got changed somehow after installing? *keeps testing in hope of a solution* |

Hi guys
First time here, I'm Antonio and I'm writing from Italy. Sorry for my poor english! ![]() I'm using Omega Drivers to be rid of that CCC trash. I've just installed Omega 3.8.330 (ATI 7.1) and on "options" of control panel it says "CAT 7.01". Is it normal? Should'nt be 7.1 instead? Thanks to the creator of omega for the time he's investing on this. Ciao Antonio |

No good here.
HIS x1950xt 256mb. Followed my usual uninstall routine (inc. drivercleaner in safe mode etc). Software installed, but drivers wouldn't. No 3d, no display driver. I then uninstalled and tried to reinstall official ATI drivers and that wouldn't work either. At this point I panicked because on one occasion OmegaDrivers killed a different system several years ago with the exact same symptoms, but I still stayed loyal to them ever since. Unfortunately, these are no good and thank god for system restore, or my win xp installation would be toast.

What overclocking apps were you using before? Don't take this the wrong way, there is no way on earth that any driver, including Omegas, that " killed " any system. To many people use these drivers for them to all the sudden not work on your card. This is one of the best Omega drivers released in a long time as far as performance compared to the official drivers. There has to be some other underlying problem that is causing your issues. If you really want to use the Omega's then I am sure we can figure out what the problem is. |

Is the Windows XP version of Omega 3.8.330 (cat 7.1) stable for an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 running Windows Vista ?
If not, any news when Omega drivers will be released for Windows Vista ? |

Hello everyone!
First, thanks for doing such excellent work! I only discovered Omega drivers nine months ago but i have been very impressed with the work! My problem is nothing like the more serios one I see listed here. It is really more of an annoyance but I figured I would ask if there is any solution. When I installed the latest 7.1, everything went well. When I just updated the ATI Tray Tools to 1.2.6.964, I get an unusual popup at the beginning of the windows XP session: "Wrong version of low level driver found! Please uninstall current version of ATI Tray Tools, restart computer and install again." Everything still works fine, it is just an annoyance. I did as it instructed and the older version works fine (of course!). When I reinstall the new version, it returns with the warning. So other than going back to the older version, is there any other fix? Thanks!

Omegas integrated version of ATT can cause problems either being installed over the top of existing installs of ATT or being updated by new versions of ATT. I have found that doing either of the above is hit and miss depending on which version of Omegas and ATT was or is being installed. I suggest that if you want to use the Omegas then uninstall the drivers and ATT and start fresh. Use driver cleaner and ccleaner for a semi thorough cleanup and use those two plus a registry cleanup app with search capabilities for a fully thorough cleanup.

![]() Im trying to connect my X1800XT to my CRT HDTV and im not sure where I can find the section that will let me set the gpu to 1080i, so I need help finding it ![]() I know theres the "display" part in the ati tray tools that shows a tv out, though im not sure if that has the 1080i option (it doesnt say anything because the tv's not connected yet )I just wanted to clarify before I go experimenting and permanently destroy my tv if I screwed something up

Ok, so finally connected the GPU to the TV and nothing is coming out of the HDTV. I went to the settings but when I turn on the HDTV the Monitor gets turned off(though the monitor still appears normal and nothing on the HDTV side) and when I turn on the monitor, the HDTV turns off(in the ati tray tools) and nothing is still coming out of my screen
![]() Any tips to help me? update: it seems tray tools is confused and listing my monitor as 1080p and the HDTV as 1024x768 when its supposed to be the other way around!!! I've tried doing everything and theres no way to fix it. I cant switch the two around. Last edited by MarcusFenix; Feb 16, 2007 at 07:18 PM. |

First off, thanks for the drivers! I had been a user for some time, but got lazy my last format and installed the standard Radeon drivers. A few recent problems reminded me why I went to Omega in the first place!
I do have one question, however. I currently have an x850XT card that I have installed the Omega drivers for and now I am getting windows trying to search for drivers for 'new hardware'. The device shows up as unknown, but this was not an issue when using the Catalyst drivers. The location of the device is the x850XT. Anyone have any ideas as to what driver is missing that my computer wants to install so badly and how I can end my torment (other than just disabling the unknown device)? |
