That seems to have done it. Sometimes, the resolution stays at 1280x800 after exiting a game (oddly, sometimes it reverts back to 1680x1050, but I can't put my finger on when it does and when it doesn't). But changing the resolution on the fly is no longer a problem, so I'll stick with it

Thank you!

Well I left this conversation thinking that no one here was going to help me. I still do not understand the caps thing since I did not post in caps and my message repeated here is not in caps. What I do know is that the Omega drivers for the Radeon graphics interface on my laptop is more like a virus than like software. There seems to be no way to uninstall it and it clearly does not work with what I am trying to do. Anyone who knows how to get this losy driver off my laptop, I welcome your help. No caps intended.

Thanks,
Tom

The drivers are fine. Not being compatible with your specific laptop and being " lousy " are two different problems. Seeing how you are a geek enough to make a statement that these drivers are lousy then you are geek enough to know how to search this or any other forum for one of the million guides for uninstalling them.

Pardon me for what's probably a naive question, but why can't I "(Re) Install Omega Drivers" from the Start Menu? I know I can use the Device Manager, but this option must be there for a reason. I get a "INF Error Driver not found" when I try to use the Start Menu method. Is there a way to ensure this error message doesn't occur? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Win XP SP2, ASUS A8M2N-LA mobo (HP model), AMD X2 4600+ , 2 GB mem, Radeon X1600 PRO Silent, all stock timings.

That error happens when the card is not recognized by the installer, usually cause the card ID is not in the drivers yet or cause there is a registry problem and the current card can't be detected.
What the "(Re) Install.." does is basically runs the setup from the previously installed folder to try and install the drivers again, on top of current ones, but this will not work if even the original setup gave you that same error.

Is there a benchmark comparison for the Omega 3.8 against the Cat 7.1 somewhere?

I'd like to see what kind of performance gains/loses I'd get with Omega drivers.

Thanks, Omegadrive, that's pretty much what I thought. I think I did get the same error on the first try after uninstalling the drivers from the CD that came with the card. It looks like I will have to manually install drivers from now on.

No need, just give me the ID of the card and I'll add it for the next release (which should be around this week).

To get the ID just open your Device Manager, expand and double click your currently installed display adapter, go to the details tab and under "Device Instance Id" selection you will see a string of numbers/letters, just email me the sequence between the 2 slashes ("\") and done. If you have more than 1 adapter (some ATI cards have 2 of them) just do the same procedure and note which ID belongs to which card in the email.

Hey there,

Posted about this in another thread but never had any replies so I thought I'd repost here since this is more Omega's area.

I want to underclock my gpu owing to heat issues, but the minimum that ATT lets me go just isn't low enough. Is there any way to lower that lower limit?

Thanks,
Eerie

I have to say for the 1st time I am wondering this as well. I don't ever remember a new set of drivers taking so long. I thank Omega so much for EVERYTHING he has done for us, but why oh why? I mean after the next set of ATIs come out he is going to be 4 drivers behind, I don't recall that ever happening.

There will be a release, the drivers where uploaded over a week ago to my server, just been busy working on a site redesign and the artist is taking too long with the final prototype, I guess I'll have to release with no redesign yet.

hey

got a weird problem here
i recently bought a second 20" wide screen and switched my x800xtpe for a 1950pro (agp) to have dual dvi.
All looks fine untill i try to play something on my secondary (extended) monitor
Powerdvd and mediaplayer have no image, just black but the sound plays. When i drag it back to display 1 all is fine.
In the omega display options i see that monitor 2 is marked "Not connected" and there is no info avail.
It also seems that hardware accell is not really there because wow plays at 3fps on display 2 and 60+ on display1
Any tips in getting this to work?

You might try using ATT that comes with the drivers. Something like:
1) close ATT if it's open
2) hook up second monitor and turn it on
3) start ATT and go to ATT's Display -> Settings menu
4) click the second monitor "on" button and set it up as "Primary" if you want video to work on it or want to do gaming on it - I have found that you generally want to do video on gaming on the "Primary" monitor

Alternatively, you might try messing with the "Theater Mode" tab on that same window if you only want to do video on the new monitor.

Sad ativvaxx.dll producing stop error (0x000000CF)

Please forgive if I've put this in the wrong place - don't spend much time on forum boards.

Reason I am posting here is that I am using Omega drivers (Radeon Omega Drivers 3.8.330 (Cat 7.1)) and was hoping that someone could shed some light on this for me. Am newbie when it comes to device driver stuff, etc. No major gamers here - just want comp. to work and be able to shut down normally.

Need help with the following problem:

I get a blue screen error when re-booting or shutting down system. Cannot get system to shut down normally. When shutting down or trying a restart get a blue screen error shown below. Will boot then go to Chkdsk b/c of abnormal shutdown.

Error points to:
TERMINAL_SERVER_DRIVER_MADE_INCORRECT_MEMORY_REFER ENCE

I tried to do a System Restore back to 16 May but it didn't like the restore point..I might need to go back further?

Not much info found via Google for this..

I have looked at my memory.dmp file with dumpchk and also have run pstat.

error seems to point to ativvaxx.dll BUT this is not newly installed. Omega drivers installed 6 April.

This just started occurring maybe couple of weeks ago...no new equ installed recently except for real basic Logitech optical mouse - just added wireless network to our second computer (not one with the problem)... did some printer and file sharing things to this one (12-13 May)....

not sure what to do next...try Restore Point earlier than 12 May ?

Thanks in Advance -

Di C.

Sounds to me maybe you didn't say "Yes" to over riding a file when installing Omega... Omega wishes and "wants" you to say yes when over riding files on omega install. If that is the case remove the drivers and reinstall again.

Maybe another problem? What Card are you using?

No, I would not do a restore point, I would remove the drivers first. If you are still using Omega, very possbile a restore point is not going to fix the problem anyhow.

I *think* I did say "Yes"..but can't remember...I guess I need to keep a better log of changes...

Graphics Card is VisionTek Radeon x1050 256 AGP..

I will try to remove drivers..and reinstall..I've been hearing/seeing Driverclean pgm..is it necessary to us this ? (I have difficulty getting into Safe mode..system hangs and doesn't get there...Any other way to make sure drivers are gone b4 reinstalling? I can get to Win XP recovery mode..that works...)

I have the following entries in my Control Panel Add/Remove Programs Menu:
ATI Display Driver (Omega 3.8.330)
Radeon Omega Drivers V3.8.330 Setup Files and Tools

I take it I would need to remove both before re-installing?

I am also thinking of backing up user stuff and reinstalling Win XP Pro from scratch, along with our apps for clean install. Though my XP Pro is actually an update. Not sure if I would have to start with the XP home we started with then do the XP Pro.

Thanks for all the help..

You should be fine just removing the 2 programs from Add/Remove and not using a reg cleaning, I have done it without reg cleaning with no problems... Not saying it is right, just saying it worked fine for me.

Hello everyone I'm new!
Omegadrive, I wanted to thank you for all your work, your drivers are awesome!
Since I use them my pc handles games better, and that's great =)

I have a problem, I hope you or somebody else can help me:
I'm using a notebook, FSC Amilo M1437G, which has an onboard X700 512 Hypermemory (I'm using Omega 3.8.330 on WinXP Home). I've just upgraded my ram from 1GB to 2 GB and now I can't select the correct screen resolution (1280x800) anymore! It's not available anywhere, either the win desktop properties or Multires. The max resolution available is 1024x768.
The fact is, if I go back to the original drivers the problem is gone, and 1280x800 shows up again fine and I can set my screen to that resolution.
I'm now trying installing the latest ATI official drivers and see what happens, but I want to use the Omega because they really are the best solution for me.
I hope Omegadrive or someone else can help me! Thanks a lot in advance!

EDIT: the latest catalyst (modded with mobilitydotnet tool) give me the same resolution problem. The only drivers that work are the ones available on FSC website, which are so very old =((((((

EDIT2: Solved! Was a stupid thing as always happens=) I went to the desktop properties and in the visualization tab (in the advanzed options) the TV output was on. Switching it to off made the correct resolition show up again ^_^

Not going to make a big post about it, but the Omega Drivers based on the Cat 7.4 are now available, this is a temporary release as I'm working on the Cat 7.5 as we speak.
