Good driver to downgrade too? -X700

Hi, I have a Mobility X700 and I'm wondering what's a good driver to downgrade to. I've been upgrading with each new Catalyst so I have the 7.1 now...

However, the reason I want to go back is as follows: Recently, I've been having problems alt+tabbing back into games. That is, when I'm playing Eve-Online or World of Warcraft, I alt+tab out to look something up on the Internet and everything is fine; but then, I try to alt+tab back, or even click on the program on my taskbar, and the problem occurs. What happens is that the game window doesn't come back up. Well, if I click or use my keyboard I'm actually interacting in my game, but on my monitor my Firefox browser is still showing full-screen (even though it acts like it is in the background, as I can't click on anything in the browser). Actually, this is just one case. The other case is that the game just simply crashes with no error message (it just ends, ka-put).

Now, when I played World of Warcraft over last summer I could alt+tab all I want, and I'm still on the same computer. I don't think I've installed anything new, either, besides other games. This is why I'm thinking it's a driver problem. So I'm wondering what's a good driver to regress to.

Greetings and welcome to Driverheaven!

If you can remember which driver you were using last summer, that would be the one to try. Probably 6.5 or 6.6.

However, if you have Windows Updates installed automatically, I've had things happen similar to this where the Updates messed up some things. So, keep an open mind that it might not actually be a problem related to the video drivers but could also be due to other updates that have been installed.

X700Pro desktop (actually the X740XL Medion), and held a watching brief since 6.9 (first one where CCC seems to have been resonably stable for me) - this is ATI original, not tweaked. What I've seen of the comments about 7.1 in various places, has me on a hold-fire until 7.2, though it looks like CCC has been given a tuneup.

For me, Cat 6.3 rocked the house. It worked awesome on my X800 Pro and X800 XT.

BTW, I use the Control Panel still, even with my new card:

I have 7.1 on my X1950 Pro AGP with the Control Panel provided by that site, and it works very well.

Also worked great with the X800 series and Cat 6.3.
