TV Tuner broken :(
First of all I would like to say hello and thank you for all the help I have recieved quietly by reading this board! It's a rare thing to see such a positve aqnd active bbs. Too much teen angst now lol. I hope that someone can shed some light on this for me. I am at that point of format fustration and thought I might at least ask before doing the deed. I'll give a quick breakdown.
New machine - Abit IT7 max2 mobo/2.4 533 P4/1 gig 3500 Crucial DDR/AIW 9700 Pro/Antec 550w PSU/160GB WD SE x 2(Raid 0)/ Coolermaster ATC-210C-DX1 Case Order of Install - Fresh install of Windows XP Pro (no warezmonkeyed version) - Chipset Drivers - Video Drivers (on CD that came with card det 3.2) / Vid card Software (Everything on disk) - SP1 + all updates inc DX9 minus WMP 9 Now at this point everything is running like a champ. this is my first ATI card so I was unaware of the pain I was about to endure with drivers. I started exploring the card's options when I noticed that SMARTGART was set to 1x. Not good, so I researched it and that is what led me here I did a uninstall as per the n00b guide to install the Omega drivers. Everything went perfect. No errors or problems, that is, until I went to watch tv. My tuner would no longer come up. It goes straight to video in. I reverted back to original set thinking it was the Omega drivers. and no joy. I made my own install pack out of all the newest drivers from ATI. No joy here either. Called ATI and they told me to install in the order of this:capture driver/vid driver/reboot/control panel/reboot/media enc9/mmc/reboot I tried this and every possible combination of it. ARARRRARARRGGARGRGGHHHHHHHHHHHH... sorry, typing this is getting me heated even more. I hate formating because I spent about a week getting it just the way i wanted and was just getting ready to ghost it. but nooooooo. k, rant over. HEP MEH! much <3 DH |

Your order of install is alittle off. Your step 4 should be step 2.
1. windows 2. SP1 and all other updates from Windows Update 3. Chipset drivers 4. DX9 5. All other drivers(vid/sound) You must have dx9 installed before installing the ATi drivers. Try this method and see if it helps. |

do you think i'll have to do a format for this to work? I ask this because that's basically the order after doing a removal of drivers. DX9 is already installed at that point.

Yeah, I would format. It's the only way to be sure. But you can probably do a 'quick format'; It'll save you some time. Sorry man

would have posted back sooner but had a hard time finding a live chicken to sacrifice to the Driver gods. good thing I did because everything works like a charm! On a side note. TV Capture will NOT work if you don't install it before drivers (must install capture then drivers then reboot) Might want to add that into the guide. Not sure how many AIW owners there are her
Thanks Kakarot! If your ever in Atlanta I'll buy ya a beer or 10

lol, glad to hear everything's working great. I've never used an AIW card, so you got me on the capture driver issue
