Or... possibly no-one who saw this thread had any suggestions. I missed this thread until you posted again... can you give more specifics? What are the specifications of your rig (beyond that in your initial post), have you had this problem before, if so, was it with earlier omegas, catalysts, or just drivers in general? Have you tried installing in safe mode? Why do you say "HP LIMITATIONS" at the end of your first post? My guess is you are running a winmodem that is conflicting - can you check the IRQs and see if there is a device conflict between the graphics card and the modem?

What is the error? It might have something to do with IE. Make a search for Wininet.dll. Give us some info we might be able to help.

HI, sorry about the sarcasm. I have a p3, 869 mhz, 40gb 7200 hard drive, 512 sdram.
ati radeon 7500. its not an all in wonder. No I haven't experienced install problems before. I retried the install and a message box states the install was successful and the driver install will finish after restart, but nothing happens on restart to indicate anything is going on. I checked display properties and found no ati control panel. This is the 25.88a drivers I'm trying to install. I just thought I'd try these drivers since none of the ati updates since 4.13.01 9056 will work on this machine. I installed the graphics card in slot 1 and the modem in slot 3. The graphics card is not sharing the IRQ with any other devices and I,m not experiencing any other problems, gaming or otherwise. I won't be able to respond to any suggestions until about 2am cst. Thanks for the reply.

I am also using the 2.5.88a driver. When I downloaded the driver from Omega's "Main Link" I had a install problem (Some others did to). The fix was to download from one of the mirror sites.
I would download the driver from one of the mirror sites , uninstall the ATI driver and control panel (if it is still there) and do a clean install.
I know he says you can install driver over driver but I do not know if he means Omega driver over ATI driver.
Omega over Omega works fine. His newest instructions are to uninstall the control panel (Who's control panel his or ATI?) and then install the driver. When in doubt uninstall everything and install new.
Since you are using Windows 98 did you ever have that .INF error when installing and the 60hz problem?

Yes, my first download was from the main site and the file sizes didn't match so I downloaded from a mirror site. I think I'll boot to vga, uninstall the ati drivers and try again. I was trying to install the omega drivers over the ati drivers. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks.

I didn't have any luck with the omega drivers. It appears I have some major problems with WME. I was unable to uninstall ati drivers so I reinstalled the drivers on the cd that came with the radeon 7500 and tried to remove them and still no luck. I get an error initializing and thats all. I tried deleting anything related to ati in windows explorer after renabling the onboard intel 810 and physically removing the 7500 from the pci slot but now I can't get windows to detect it on startup. It tries to install the omega drivers to the VGA device. Haven't had time to work with it lately. The omega drivers were extracted without any problem and shows up in the start programs list. any suggestions? Thanks,

Yea try this I set mine up as a stanard vga and restarted and everydrivers I tryed to install it say somrthing about no device found I couldnt make it take any driver so I put my old nvidia video card back in and set it up as a standard vga and shut down and put the ati 9700pro back in and I still had to go into the control panel , system , divice manger, video adapter double click the standard video and reinstall drivers and manually search for the drivers where I had un zip them and it installed them that way with no problems, I tryed the exe ati installer and omaga exe installer but it would only give me errors.I had to go trew device mange and show it where the driver were. Hope this helps.

Hi. I tried that already. I've had the pci card in and out a few times trying to get windows to detect it. no go. I never encountered any trouble whatsoever when I first installed this card last july. I'll just keep trying and hopefully get it working. It's taking alot more time than I can afford right now. I've already reinstalled windows. Don't know what else I can do.

I got the same thing a bsod with winint.dll and then in the taskmanager 'ikernel' doesn't respond anymore. I've first installed the default PCI VGA driver.

The workaround: I have to let the 25.88a driver unpack and then manually 'search for a specific destination', then reboot and the strange thing is now I can install the driver normally but in the end I get an inf-error though I've got the idea they're installed good now.

Smartgart tab also doesn't work.

Specs:

-Athlon XP 1800+
-MSI (Via)K7T266A Pro2 (Via 4.05c AGP driver)
-Kingston 256 DDR CAS2 ValueRam
-Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 (25.88a)
-Maxtor 40GB ATA100 7200RPM
-SB Audigy
-Win98SE
-DX 9.0a

SmartGart will NOT work if you install through the device manager, the ATI setup is the one that enables it.
Also, I have fixed the "INF error" at the end of the installation, the next drivers will not have that problem.

tuffguy, Enter windows in safe mode, go to the device manager and delete ALL video cards and monitors, then open windows explorer and look in "c:\windows\inf\other", then delete ALL ATI oand Omega INF files, restart. Upon rebbot windows will detect the video card, tell the installation where to get the drivers (in C:\Program Files\Omega...) and let it install, reboot when asked. After the reboot got to the start menu and run the drivers setup form the Omega Shortcuts, when it finishes it will ask to restart, do so and everything should be fine from now on... BTW, I would advice to re-install Dx9 as soon as the drivers are installed and test with Dx capabilities with "dxdiag".

Good Luck!

Magneto is on a distinguished road

I'm also having problems with the Omega 2588a drivers for Win9x. I downloaded them last night, 12.9 meg.
Read the readme thoroughly, uninstalled ATI's Control panel, and proceeded with Omega installation. Extraction went ok, but during installation I got a BSOD, and after clicking a key to continue, The red splash screen remained on my monitor . I had to manually shut the program down. I tried running setup from the extraction folder, and I received a message stating "cannot load support files" or something like that. I didn't write it down. sorry...

So I rebooted my system, closed everything in my taskbar, and restarted the setup. This time the installation appeared to procede normally, but I had to manually restart the system. After restart, I did not have a control panel or access to any of the advance features of the drivers. Something did not go right. Perhaps I should have gone with my instinct and uninstalled the Cat 3.2s I had installed BEFORE attempting to install Omega drivers.

I had tried a set of Omega drivers a few months ago after having problems with the ATI Cat 3.0 drivers. At that time I was receiving an error that my hardware wasn't supported. Anyone out there with a Sapphire Radeon 9700 Atlantis non-pro using the Omegas with success?

Omegadrive , do you know if the Inf-error is IE6SP1 related?

Yes, the error is related to IE6SP1, as it updates something about the certificates and when it's time to install the CAT file included in the drivers, the error shows. To solve it I have removed the CAT file from my drivers (they where not certified anyway ) and the error should not appear anymore.

Magneto, try installing them through the device manager, it seems the problem is the ATI installer.

Omegadrive,

Thank you for the reply and the suggestion. Were you referring to installing your Omega drivers, ATI's official Cat 3.2 drivers, or use the device manager for both? I'm fairly new to ATI equipment. I own a Sapphire 9700 Atlantis non-pro, and I'm wondering if this card is supported by the Omega drivers. A couple of months ago I tried installing a set of Omega drivers and had problems, but I don't think my hardware was supported at that time.

Weren't the Omega 2588 drivers supposed to install a Control panel too? I could have sworn I read that before downloading them.

Thank you for your work and your help..

I was refering to my drivers of course
When the ATI setup doesn't work just install through the device manager, that will always work, unless the card is really unsupported by the drivers.
And yes, the drivers include the CP, it's integrated in the install.

Can't find control Panel after installing the 25.88a drivers

I had problems trying to install atlantis 9000 vivo display drivers - went to omega corner downloaded the 25.88a drivers worked like a charm. My problem is how do I activate the ati control panel (that is integrated into drivers) to make changes. Can't find any reference to it any where.

Thanks in advance.

HI again. Good news. In device manager I removed the monitor as well as the display adapters and upon restarting it recognized and installed fine. I noticed on previous attempts to get windows to recognize the ati card it also installed a default monitor in the device manager list.

Omegadrive: I followed your instructions and it worked. Thank you very much. As usual what appeared to be an insurmountable problem turned out be very small. I have just now built a new machine .
Athlon 1800+

raidmax 400w power supply
60 gb wd
256 pc2700 ddr
ati9500 pro

I will try your drivers on it as well. Thanks again!

dpd_2002: The ATI control panel is a set of TABS located in the display properties, to access the panels just:
Right Click an empty space in your desktop, select Properties, go to the Settings tab, click on the Advanced button.
All the ATI Control Panel TABS have the ATI logo.

Enjoy!

9000 atlantis 64 mb Vivo

Omegadrive: I read that the omega 2588a drivers for ati cards are for gamers, will they support tv out and tv in on the 9000 atlantis Vivo?

If so, where do I start - in the setting tab of the display properties there are two displays - one is my philips monitor and the other is just default monitor - will I be able to use this for tv out and tv in?

I apologize don't know much about video cards.

Thanks

The only way I have ever been able to install these drivers, and Ati's original drivers for that matter, is to do a fresh install of Windows 9x/Me and install them BEFORE I install anything else, with the exception of a Direct X upgrade.
