Presario 2100 IGP 340 Windows 2000

I'm new to this forum, but so far I've found more information in 2 hours than I did the last 2 days at HP and ATI. My problem is that I can't get my display driver to work properly. I've tried all HP's ideas (which are few and far between since they don't support windows 2000 on my laptop) and I've tried ATI's ideas (same here). All I get is either a system hang on load or a black display with a blinking cursor. Today I installed patje's driver and installed them fine, I restarted and the system hung up while loading. The only driver that I can use currently is the default VGA 16 colors 640x480. I can't even change those settings. I am running DirectX 9, so I don't know if that is the problem or what. I have posted to many forums and no one has given a solution that has worked. Any information as to a solution is much appreciated! Thanks.

Is there any reason why you can't use Windows XP which ships with the laptop?

The reason that I need 2000 is because there are several apps that won't run on XP that I need for work. I tried adding the lines of code that you posted in another thread, but that didn't work either.

Well, my modifications work as you can install the driver. However, the driver does not work under win2000 on the Presario 2100 or so it seems.

Have you tried changing the memory allocated to the card in the BIOS? Try all the values out.

I dont have the hard drive space to install Windows 2000 on mine - sorry
