Best driver version for x700 card?

I realise that there must be many many "Which driver" threads so I apologise for yet another. I've googled and found nothing of a consistant opinion.

So I have Cat version 7.1 at the moment, I can't see any glitches or anything but wonder if there is an earlier or latter Cat version which would provide better video results.

Thanks for you help as I'm not a mad driver upgraders / tester / enthusiast.

Cheers

Between the Omegadrivers and the NGO ATI Optimized drivers, I find very similar performance. BUT, in my opinion, the NGO drivers are best suited for those who are using PCI Express and want the WDM drivers included.

You can find the NGO drivers here:

Good luck!

The last real gain for the pre-X1K series was the introduction of dual core / hyperthreading optimization, back in about 5.13 (stabilzing and improving in early 6.x).

If you use the CCC though, then you REALLY want the CCC performace improvements that came with the 7.x series - not wanting to tempt fate, but this is about the first time I'd ever consider CCC to be stable, with the old tendency to throw .Net errors at shutdown finally eliminated. CCC, and maybe the odd bugfix, is about the only reason to upgrade pre-X1K cards drivers (eg X700) to the current level.

Tweaktown unfortunately removed the X800/850 from their Catalyst tests, as that generally served as a check that the performance on older cards had not downturned.

At least until that point, there were no shocks.

Thanks very much for the replies. I may just leave my 7.1s installed until I see a comparison test as you said. Maybe one will be rebor.

Cheers
