WMD drivers and sapphire x160pro

i have tried numerous times to install WDM drivers for my sapphire radeon x1600Pro, but i still cannot see any of the components under sound, video, game controllers. the driver installation is not failing because i get the "you must now reboot your system" message. is the x1600Pro even compatible with WDM drivers? how come they're not showing up at all? i've tried a clean install after using driver cleaner, but still no dice.

The only thing the WDM drivers are for is for Video Capturing. If that card doesn't have Video In, then you won't be needing the WDM drivers at all. That may explain why the drivers are not showing up in Device Manager. (Although, it really should tell you during the installation process that the hardware cannot be found.)

At any rate, you definitely do need to determine if your card does have Video Capture capability. If not, you can forget the WDM drivers.

Cheers!
