Help, cannot load CCC 7.6 in win xp after successful install?
CCC cannot be loaded after catalyst 7.6 is installed.
It says something like CCC encountered a problem and it needs to be closed, after every reboot. My current solution is to use the 7.5 CCC with the 7.6 driver. I don't think my problem is with .net but i noticed that with cat 7.5, it also install C++ redistributable but it doesn't exist in the cat 7.6 set. Could this be the problem? |

Make sure .Net Framework 2.0 is installed. I know that newer CCC requires that. Then try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers.
Hope that helps. |

I did install and reinstall .net framework 2.0 and also reinstall the driver but it still fails. Thanks for the tips though.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? There could be a conflict with my softwares then but the weird thing is that all previous CCC works fine. |

Believe it or not this is actually a .NET issue. Why was it working with previous version then? A possible answer is that previous versions only required .NET 1.0/1.1 (at least that's what I remember.. I could be wrong, but it's a logical assumption).
In any case, from what I've seen there are a few things you can try: 1) Do a repair of .NET 2.0. To do so, go into Add/Remove Programs, choose to uninstall Microsoft .Net 2.0, but instead of removing it choose to repair it. It should be noted that this 'may' only be a temporary solution as I've seen the very same issue reoccur later on. 2) The best thing I've seen that 'should' fix this is to reinstall .NET 2.0 PRIOR to installing the ATI drivers. So, first, uninstall the ATI drivers, and reboot the machine, but do not install the drivers when asked. Next, uninstall .NET 2.0, and reboot the machine. Again, cancel the installing of the display drivers. Now, reinstall .NET 2.0, reboot the machine when asked, but cancel the auto install of the display drivers when asked. Now it's time to install the ATI drivers per normal. |
