ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 - Permanent horizontal lines

I got Dell Inspiron 8100 with Windows XP Home. Video system (ATI Mobility Radeon 7500) worked fine. When XP was replaced with Windows 2000 Professional, ran into problems.Tried many drivers for W2k, but none worked.
Finally found one, although it was not stable all the time. The worst thing was that I have on the screen three solid horizontal lines: at the very bottom, then second one dividing the screen into two, and the third one dividing the upper part into two.
These ‘cuttings’ are very precise.I guess it has something to do with ‘multi-screening’ but I am not sure. All three lines are identical, white in color, about 2mm in width, and placed from one edge of the screen to the other.
These lines appear after machine was rebooted, but before Dell logo pop-ups.
After Windows was loaded, all three lines get red stripes and become white-red.
As you can imagine, it is very distractive having them all the time on the screen.
I recently replaced Windows 2000 with Window XP Professional (SP2), but the lines remain on the screen.
Did someone else experienced the same issue, and is there any solution for the problem? Thanks.
