Sad BSOD when restarting after new drivers...

Hello everyone. I am getting a lock-up while playing lotr bfme. I start playing fine for a couple minutes maybe and then it just locks-up and repeats whatver sound it was on. I have to do a hard reset. I updated my sound card to no avail and now when i try to update my video card with either the official drivers or with the omega drivers i get a bsod when i reset the computer and have to boot in safe mode and do a system restore. Any ideas? Thanks much

Here is the error code I get on the BSOD:
***stop: 0x0000008e(0xc0000005, 0x03020100, 0xf79ceb4, 0x00000000)

Windows xp sp2
radeon 9600xt
1024 mb ram
directx 9.0c

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

We need much more information about your system:

What make of RAM, how is it configured, what timings and CAS settings are being used?

What Motherboard? Has the BIOS been updated along with the Chipset drivers?

What Power Supply Unit is installed?

Just need a lot more information before attempting any suggestions.
