ATI 8500 => 8800 Mod Does it finally work with the latest drivers ?

Hi,

I´ve read a lot of modding an ATI 8500 to 8800.

It seemed to work with older drivers.
What about the new ones ?
Anyone tried to crack these ?

What about changing the device ID of an 8500 BIOS to an 8800 ?
Anyone tried it ?
How to do this ?
Will this work ?
So that we can use every new driver by ATI.

Who is able to do this ?

I found this article:
http://www.radeon2.ru/konkurs_2/8500_to_8800.html

Unfortunately this doesn´t work with the new drivers.

So let´s change that damn device ID.

I hope someone can mae it.

thanks

That doesn't necessarily make it faster though.. (are you looking for speed?) It just makes the IQ MUCH nicer.

Hi,

I´m looking for more speed in professional 3D application.
So is it possible to change the device ID of an 8500 so that the driver from the 8800 will work without modifications ?

thanks

No, will either have to change the card physically or via a software mod.

The results weren't promising... if you want to try it anyway, you can, maybe you will be lucky.
