ATi Driver bug or gay HIS Radeon?

Hi all, I recently purchased an HIS Radeon X1950PRO AGP rev.2 graphic card and it runs great.

My graphic card will run perfectly smooth with the HIS graphic card drivers (Catalyst 7.3) but as soon as I tried using the ATI Catalyst 7.8 drivers I had no AGP Texture Support.

Tis a shame since there have been a lot of bug fixes that I want.

Any ideas on this?

When you did the install for the Cat 7.8 drivers, was it an install over top the drivers already there, or was it a fresh install (where you first removed the drivers via Add/Remove Programs)?

I uninstalled the drivers for my X800, rebooted into safe mode, used driver cleaner pro, shut down my pc, put in the new x1950pro, booted into windows, installed just the display driver 7.8 (ATI) and no AGP Texture Acceleration. Installed the lastest drivers from HIS (7.3) and it works fine.

Reckon I should downgrade to cat 7.7 (ATI) and try those or just wait for cat 7.9 since its only a week away?

UPDATE: Tried Catalyst 7.7, still no AGP Texture Acceleration =(
UPDATE: Guess i'll be sticking with Catalyst 7.4 by HIS and wait a year for their next set of drivers =/

There have been NUMEROUS reports of problems with the 7.8 CATs and ANY AGP version of the cards. Don't hit your head on the wall any longer. Just revert to the previous set that works well, skip the 7.8s....and hope for the best with the 7.9s.
