Thumbs Up! New ATI Beta Drivers 7.10s

Found these on another site. Fixes my desktop icon problems and I now have AGP acceleration versus 7.8s and 7.9 and my 1950 Pro AGP. Haven't tried rebooting or games like ETQW and Bioshock. Looks good so far though. Kudos to AMD/ATI if this is new technology and not 7.7s in a new wrapper.

ATI drivers & bios

PS. Sorry mods if I broke any rules like posting Betas. Just did it because it help my AGP problems... Please edit of lock if needed. Thanks.

its fine to post them, but please be aware that if problems occur with these drivers then the AMD staff on this forum can't help as they won't be a public release as such. Totally unsupported.

They include everything. Dot Net, CCC, driver, Visual C++, and AMDs HDMI Audio Driver.

Thank you sir. I'll report back regarding my experiences with reboot, which was fine after installation, and Bioshock/ETQW.

Edit: Only installed the drivers (~15 meg.). No C+++, Control PAnel, etc...

By the way, folks - these are not 8.0's. To the best of my knowledge, the next Catalyst release is 7.10. These appear to be the last release candidate build towards 7.10.

I was thinking that about the Cat 8.0 title. AMD/ATI work on 12 month cycles so these would be 7.10, January would see Cat 8's.

I agree, but I just wanted to label them as shown.

Update: Bioshock will not start with these drivers. When starting the game, it shows the title, HDD working, then just goes right back to desktop. This happened with the 7.9s as well for me. Bioshock started with the 7.8s, but no AGP acceleration.

Went back to the 7.7s. You're on the right track AMD/ATI, but not there yet. As I said, desktop icons and reboot fixed, but still the remaining issues. Crossing fingers with the official 7.10 release.
