Resolution Issues with Sony TV!
This is my first post so i want to start off by saying hi and i've heard this is a great forum when looking for driver help. My name is Patrick and i need all the help i can get with this one!!!!
![]() Operating System: Windows XP Pro CPU (Processor): T2500 Motherboard: Dell Inspiron E1505 RAM: 2GB Graphics Card/s Installed: ATI X1400 radeon mobility Power Supply: **Please also state the AMP rating on the +12V Rail/s** (Normally printed on a label on the side of the PSU) Standard Laptop (US) Addin Cards Installed and into which PCI Slots: N/A Hard Drive/s and Type/s Installed: Standard ATA150 7200RPM 80GB Optical Drive/s Installed: N/A Cooling Solution for PC Case: N/A Description of Problem: Ok strange problem and I hope someone can help me out. First off I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 Television that has a VGA connection on the back and as stated above a Dell Inspiron E1505. This specific TV is native 1920 x 1080, but the VGA connection (in manual) says it will only output 1400 x 1050. However some people have figured out that using Powerstrip to change the timing settings to work with this TV to make it the 1920 x 1080, which I did a while back and it looked awesome while using XP and Radeon Omega Driver 3.8.330. My problem today is I have tested out Vista Premier a couple months back and got my TV all hooked up correctly using Powerstrip and it looked great, but for what I am doing (which is using this PC as a processor for the XBOX 360 HD DVD add on drive) the driver for my video card was terrible so I would get the constant freezing and unfreezing of a frame but audio would stay constant and smooth. So I had to re-install my XP Pro because that was the main reason I wanted to hook it up to my TV and I didn’t really need anything that Vista offered me. Needless to say when I re-installed XP and hooked my TV up I was shocked to see that when I forced 1920 x 1080 it would not go past 1520 x 1080 which I found out in the Properties -> Settings Tab -> Advanced -> Displays under Monitor it only read 1520 x 1080, but it did say Sony TV and Max Reported Resolution 1920 x 1080 vs. what was on the Settings Tab (1920 x 1080). I have used 3.8.291, 3.8.330, 3.8.360 and the latest 3.8.413 and on the latest it is really weird because it still says Sony TV but the Max Reported Resolution is 1440 x 900 which it’s not even supposed to support (according to the manual). Now like I said I know that at one point 3.8.330 worked perfectly for me on this TV with the HD DVD add on and I know that I haven’t added anything to my PC that would have corrupted anything unless Vista changed anything permanently, which I doubt, so any help would be awesome because Transformers comes out on Tuesday and I sure would love to watch it in 1080p on my TV without spending money on an A-30 or A-35 HD Player. Thank you for your help in advance. -Patrick |
