@ Frag Maniac

the big filesize of this "hotfix" leeds me to the presumption that its a whole driver package including the ccc rather than a hotfix changing a few files and settings. so previous drivers (like omega) will be overwritten. but i haven't installed the package so this is just a guess.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, so I haven't dared try it. I was going to try and uninstall the Omega, then the Cat 7.10 then the hotfix to see what files have changed and just overwrite those files only into the Omega, but I'm not sure it would even be possible since I'm on AGP and the latest Cat's don't seem to work with it.

At least CCC's scaling feature for overscan while using extended desktop finally works. Having a CRT HDTV as a secondary display in different aspect ratio than my monitor makes a properly working extended desktop mode essential for me watching movies.Though with previous Omegas I didn't need to do any adjusting in extended desktop. ATI's mucked things up for AGP, but at least they're getting some things right.

wuoh, cant save overclock profiles in ATT.. guess i'll reinstall a 3rd time (& try to remove any traces of ATT)

EDIT: well that didnt fix anything! ATT is buggy for good, maybe the low level driver never uninstalls... i'll try the next omega to see if anything fixes, for now it's fine

EDIT2: & when i installed 7.10 WDMs, the next boot was unusually slow... 2-3 passes is normally my windows loading screen, this time it was like 10-15 & then it finally 'loaded' right when my finger was touching the reset button

er... clicked uninstall

isnt it supposed to say AGP

EDIT: upon using regmon to see what ATT is trying to read, it for the most part was reading the card's id untill right here where it's trying to read the info of an 'adapter' that a VNC prog installed, this should explain the overclocking tab issues

EDIT2: ok! i tried my best, fixed the uninstall glitch, removed all traces of radmin... but that didnt fix ATT's issues.. oh well.. it doesnt affect any running progs, just cant save any OC profiles

My card is not recognized by Omega drivers and the Sapphire drivers make graphics distorted (just in games on some parts of the screen i.e. Fonts missing parts, etc...).

Asus AX1650PRO problem

Hi Omega!

I have an ASUS AX1650PRO (AGP) card, the Omega drivers aren't working but the drivers from ATI-s site neither. The only drivers wich is workink is the drivers form ASUS's site, but thoose drivers release date are 2006. december. So when i install Omega or ATI drivers after restart the screen is flickering has horizontal lines of many colours, and after ~1 minute the computer freezes down after reintsalling the drivers from the original asus driver cd everythin is fine, but I'm still with old driver here. Hi Omega!

I've a problem with my mobility ATI Radeon HD 2600 on my Asus F3sa Laptop. The Video Card is on the inf list, but i didn't manage to install it normally, i did it manually, but there was something wrong. When i tryed to start DOOM 3, the game exit immediately.

If i install the ASUS driver, all works perfectly...but i want to use OMEGA!!! What's wrong?

Please help me, thanks

For all of those who are using the VisionTek Radeon 2600 HD PRO and have been encountering problems when trying to load the drivers off of the CD, that comes with the Card, I may have a solution.

Now this only applies if when you are trying to load the drivers of the CD, and it does not find any suitable drivers. I found this to be very odd since the CD came with the card. So, I opened the "CX_52499" setup information file with notepad. This file can be found in the "XP_INF" folder on the driver CD.

Once I viewed the file, I noticed that the file included a long list of ATI cards. I then scrolled down till I found my card which read:

Code:
"ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9589
"ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9589
The
Code:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9589
portion of the string was very similar to my Cards Device ID, except mine ended in 9587.

So, I decided to see what happens if I make a change to that string. In order to do this you will have to make a copy of that entire "XP_INF" folder and place it in your "My Documents" folder. You will then have to open the "CX_52499", that is located in the copied folder, with notepad. I then found the strings again and changed the strings to read:

Code:
"ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9587
"ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9587
and saved the file.

After making these changes I opened device manager and went to card that showed "Unknown Device VGA Controller" and updated the driver. When updating the driver I pointed the device to the copied "XP_INF" folder that held the newly edited "CX_52499" file, In my case it was located in my documents.

Finally, the hardware wizard recognized that the drivers were correct and asked if I wanted to install the drivers. It told me that the drivers weren't digitally signed, but I clicked "continue anyway". It then finished the installation. I finally restarted my PC and when it came back up, it was working like a charm !!!

I hope this helps some people out

smartgart should get installed, something went wrong with your driver installation. it's a system service which should start automatically when your pc boots up. smartgart is vital for agp cards to setup all necessary agp parameters. sometimes it helps to install the omega driver again ontop of itself.

seems like your graphic processor was overclocked quite a bit. not all cards can be overclocked this high without graphical glitches or stability problems. try using the default clocks.

Sorry, my English is very bad

Are compatible Sapphire ATI RADEON 2600 Pro 512MB AGP with the lastest Omega Drivers (based in 7.10)?

The original drivers are not compatible with this graphics card, becouse ATI don't suport this chip in AGP slot , and I see in a lot of webs that this drivers are compatible.

What a hell of a night this has been. I'll spare you all the gory details but I ended up having to buy a VisionTek HD 2600PRO to replace the EVGA 6600GT that was in the girlfriends computer. Wouldn't you know it but both the drivers on the CD that came with it as WELL as the ATI 7.10 drivers reported by card as not being supported...

Read a few forum posts that said ATI isnt supporting the AGP versions of the 2600 or atleast there's a bug or issue preventing the cards from working. Read that the Omega drivers do work.

Well, that didn't work either. So I peered into it further. Apparently NONE of the driver .inf files have my dev ID in them (VEN_1002&DEV_9587). Adding it to the Omega driver .inf files allowed me to atleast install the damn drivers and get my monitor working at the proper resolution.

However, loading ATI Tray tools reports that it cannot load my BIOS. Performance also seems to be rather sluggish at this point but I haven't tried loading any games (party starts in about 15mins and I need the machine for music and videos which are working fine). If there's any more files or information you need please feel free to request it.

Thought I'd add that DVD's now are taking anywhere from 30-75% of the CPU to play using Media Player Classic where with the 6600GT I was seeing less than 20% on an Athlon XP 2500+ with 1Gb of DDR400.

Definitely sounds like acceleration isn't working quite right.

Under Adapter Type in display properties Im seeing the Chip Type listed as ATI Radeon Graphics Processor AGP (0x9587[the string I added to the .inf files]) and BIOS info as 113-AB31200-100-IT while Adapter String is showing as Radeon HD 2600 PRO ()mega 3.8.421) which appears right.

I am quite disappointed that x1650Pro is STILL not able to install at all. Looks like my email with the ID from device manager didn't get to Omega at all.
I'll keep on using the damn default driver then

Sapphire Radeon x1650 Pro 256Ram GDDR3 :)

I have x1650 pro and I think I have solution.
I was inspirated by FURION and my solution is very similar.
Ad rem.
When I try to install omega drivers manually (windows after installation asked me for driver to new hardware) windows said that the omega drivers are not compatible with winXP. It was annoying so I just opened the driver (c:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\v3.8.421\2KXP_INF\FW-Off\CX2K_RAD_OMEGA.inf) in notepad.
And now few steps:
1. check for your card ID (my is: PCI\VEN_1002&CEV_71C1)

2. find in opened file phrase: "71c1" from ID it schould look like:
Code:
"Radeon X1650 Pro(Omega 3.8.421)" = ati2mtag_R530, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71c1
3. change "ati2mtag_R530" to "ati2mtag_RV535"

4. installator will ask for ati2mtag.sys. You can find it in: "c:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\v3.8.421\2KXP_INF".

It should work, but for me I had to change one more line because windows detected secondary video controller. I just needed to go to this steps again but in place of "71c1" I had "71E1".

After this my card works fine and I'm very happy for that

Now. Where from I took this "ati2mtag_RV535". Answer is: from original ATI driver file for catalyst 7.7. So if You want to apple this solution for other cards than x1650 pro you must previously check the original file in similarly to steps 1-2 from my solution way.

If you can't make work Direct3D with HD2600PRO:

1.- Install Omega Drivers based in 7.10
2.- Go to C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\v3.8.421\2KXP_INF
3.- Edit CX2K_RAD_OMEGA.inf
4.- Search for 2600 and add this line
"Radeon HD 2600 PRO AGP (Omega 3.8.421)" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9587&SUBSYS_00281002
5.- Go to device manager and force upgrading your graphic card searching for drivers in C:\Program Files\Radeon Omega Drivers\v3.8.421\2KXP_INF

It worked for me

Good Luck
This is what someone at the Sapphire Forums posted. Tried this method it worked for me but i seem to get Black Screen of Death @ World of Warcraft & Marvel Ultimate Alliance , it seems that it has an error at the ati3duag.dll

System Specs

so i updated my 2k's drivers..... & i'm getting the same issue with the benchmark of ATT & no profile saving for overclocks (oh well)

one bug though, whatever way the omega installer calls for the .reg keys, doesnt work on 2k, since there are spaces in the folder names, but i just manually imported when the installer error appeared

Looks like my Powercolor Radeon X1950 XT 512MB isn't supported by Omega, |- Welcome to the PowerColor World -|

Installation ran fine, but no prompt window with "Continue Anyway" button and after reboot Windows XP was asking to install drivers for unidentified devices. Was hoping Omega would resolve my problems with ATI's own Catalyst software forcing my desktop at crappy 16 bit color and 60hz when my LCD definitely can support 75hz.

Supplied card IDs if this helps, there's 2 but guessing one is "secondary", don't know which is which though:

Hi, Omegadriver
I heard alot about your modified drivers and i used them on my pc with an saphire X700 and everything went smoothly and i am really happy on the progress.

Recently i tried to install these drivers into my X1450 on my asus laptop after downgrading it from vista. The installation process went okay but it did not install the driver. So i decided to manually install the driver, when searching the list i noticed that there wasn't an X1450 driver so i used the X1400 since they are almost identical cards. My display for my laptop is great and i see an improvement on FPS, however when i try to plug in my tv via svideo the screen seizures. Can you give me a solution for this ?

Edit my id is
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7186&SUBSYS_12311043&REV_00\4&2D4 04BB6&0&0008

Thanks
Chinmonkie

Well since Omega now has an Nvidia gfx card, it would appear ATI modded drivers from him will now take a back seat...since he updated his site, he also had a new set of forceware drivers ready to go as well, but alas still no ATI drivers since before Halloween =(
What a shame...

NGO anyone?

Hey, I never said that I was going to stop working on the ATI drivers or work less on them, I did said that since my last release I have been working on the site and the nvidia drivers, that took so much time that I didn't even had time to look at the ATI drivers, besides, the 7.11 still had the AGP issues, so why bother, I'm working atm on the 7.12 for XP and Vista, not easy work since the Vista drivers don't support a lot of cards and I'm taking my time making sure all those cards are supported for my first release.

Hey Omega =)

I appreciate your work, i been actually going through the articles posted on your site and i am amassed on how much work you have done O.o and how many drivers you have modded. Just wanted to say good work on them everybody at Notebookreview.com uses your drivers when on the ati cards when they have a chance.

As for the nvidia drivers you modified, some of the guys on the fourm are modifiying the .inf with laptopvideo2go .inf to make them compatable.

Hi Omegadriver,

I have a Saphire ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro AGP 512 MB memory my problem is Direct3D is not working I sent you a copy of my DXDIAG txt file after running the Direct3D tests. I had it working before but installed your deivers again because I did not add the try tools last time and lost the Direct3D again. I spent 14 hours last time trying to get it to work but no dice this time. I can't remember how It started to work last time maybe luck I do not know. Need your help if you have any suggestions for me to try.

Microsoft Windows XP V5.1 Build 2600 CSDVersion Service Pack 2

Yes it pays to read all the posts. I have my Direct3D working thanks to this post.

And yes I have seen Far Cry Crash to a Blue screen windows shut down with that ati3duag.dll as the cause.

I would not have double posted but the forum would not allow me to edit my post.

Anyway thank you for this post it is a lifesaver
