Pissed Latest Omega drivers OR ATI Tray Tools--how can I restore all previous settings?

Howdy,

Responding to a forum message, I decided to install the latest Radeon for my Visiontek x1950 Pro xge AGP card, as official Visiontek drivers are not recommended for my Win2K Pro OS. Well, now I have some very odd happenings never experienced with any of 3 other ATI driver installs I have used for my card. I use Driver Cleaner Pro to wrap up the uninstallation routine, have never had any problems. I followed the same uninstall/reinstall after having graphic corruption of crash to desktop in my fav game, TW2004, of the ATI Tray Tools and Omega driver set. I have resinstalled the original Visiontek package, and now I have this problem with TW2004. I am certain there is some sort of residual change made by either the Tray Tools, or the Omegas, and that Driver Cleaner may not have uninstalled everything related to Omegas, since they are not noted on the Driver Cleaner list of supported cards.

Arrggghhh! Any ideas on what the heck to do now, short of a complete reinstall of my OS? (a freakin 10 hour ordeal!). I had reinstalled DX9, latest version, checked everything possible, and again, am certain a change to some system setting has occured with either Tray Tools, or with the Omegas, and can't seem to see what. Very frustrating!

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Win2K does not have a restore point feature, so I may be hosed.

I'm not that familiar with W2K. But, if it works, CCleaner may be able to help you out once you've uninstalled the previous software. CCleaner - Home

The program can clean up .tmp files AND clean up the Windows Registry. Make sure you have Deleted the folders/directories where ATT and the Radeon Omegadrivers were installed within the Program Files.

Good luck!

Thanks folks. Ok, I found out how to fix this. Turns out I had made a change to the registry many moons ago to resize the PagedPoolSize and PagePoolQuota in order to run Gigastudio well on Win2K, and with my old nV6800GT there was never a problem. The x1950 Pro AGP I have has a problem with this alteration of Windows memory management, so by restoring these values to default settings--all is well :o). My only work around so far is to reset these every time I run Gigastudio (huge piano samples--yum!), and set them back to default for the rest of computing.

Thanks again for the suggestions,

Noel
