FIX FOR ACEEventLog problem!
I ran into this problem yesterday morning, and the FIX is as follows:
STEP 1 From START, select RUN enter REGEDIT.EXE Close all to the top level MY COMPUTER Hit CTRL and F TYPE IN: ACEEventLog Hit FIND NEXT Delete ACEEventLog Finding Hit: F3 Repeat if necessary (there were 2 (two) entries in my XP 64 When no more entries are found close REGEDIT. STEP 2 Open C:\Windows\Systems32\Config Delete ACCE ventLog.evt Empty Recycle Bin Tada!! ACEEventLog is history. STEP 3 - OPTIONAL From Desktop select MY COMPUTER Right click LOCAL DISK C: Select PROPERTIES Select TOOLS Select CHECK DISK OPERATIONS – ONLY “AUTOMATICALLY FIX FILE SYSTEM ERRORS” Hit START You will get a message that the system needs exclusive use and do you want to do it on the next restart – Select YES, then OKAY. Close window and restart – system will do a CHKDSK and correct any errors (i.e. changes made) – I do this to keep the registry clean and matching. When it completes and restarts take a look at the number of errors in your Event Viewer – Applications – WINLOGON, do not be surprised by the number. |
