??? After official Catalyst -> Omega Drivers -> COd4 loads for minutes

Hi,

I've tried the omega drivers for the first time now and I'm playing COD4 in most of my spare time. Ingame I noticed the little bit of extra-performance, those drivers provide, but when I start COD4 (clicking Desktop-Icon or launching it using HLSW) it take's about 1 Minute to load until I get to the main menu. I've uninstalled all ATI Catalyst stuff before installing the omega drivers so I guess it's not a faulty installation. Any solutions here?

Cheers,
Julian

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

What kind of system you got there? And I think it's not driver issue that it takes long time to load the game. Issue could be that you hard drive needs defragmentation.

My system:

Intel Core2Duo E4300 (2x1,8GHz)
1024 MB DDR2 533 RAM
ATI Radeon 1950 Pro
Windows XP SP3RC1

My harddrive is not heavily fragmented (ran O&O defrag some days ago). And it was fine with the last ATI drivers until I uninstalled them and changed to the omega drivers. So by installing new drivers, fragmentation of my HD can't be the reason.

Then move back to official drivers and use Ati Tray tools to tweak the drivers. Latest Omegas are based on CAT 7.12 if my memory serves me right.
