Radeon ( sapphire made ) X1650 Troubles?

Well, The first day I got my card, I installed the official release of the drivers by ati. I had some complications playing games with it. So I got the omega drivers. They have worked fine up until now. I've been playing all kinds of games on it, all which ran fine, except Battlefield 2142. That had worked before i got my new video card, but i had quit playing it. The other day i decided to try it again...but it keeps locking up. It happens at different points each time. 2 minutes into the game, 2 hours in the game, it seems random. who knows. Anyways, Upon trying another game ( gears of war ) which ran fine, now locks up, after discovering the battlefield error... strange. Team fortress 2 has done it once.

I updated my omega drivers ( yes i used driver cleaner and all that good stuff ) to the 4.8.422 release. No help at all, Still the same problem. I've tried doing everything i can think of logically. Reinstalling drivers to reinstalling the games....no fix. Changing direct x sound acceleration to basic accel. Still no fix. I've also noticed this:

Current AGP Speed -9223372036854775808x

Uh, what? lol. that came directly out of the ati tray tools' system info. The tools used are the ones included in the omega driver release, Not official ati drivers.

Should i be concerned about that?....doesn't look right to me

Also, using the smartgart(tm) in omega drivers, i can't change the agp speed to anything...It automatically resets to 0. I have no option to change it in bios either.

Sorry this is so long, but this is a complex problem.

One last note: I dont believe it is a software conflict error, because my games are installed on a seperate partition.

Also i just installed 3dmark06, on yet again a seperate partition that NO software had ever been installed to, The first benchmark test ran fine ( i got a 2065 if u was wondering ...not good i know but what can i do ) but the second test locked up just like it did in the game.

System specs:
Emachines T3065 3000+amd xp home edition service pack 2
2 gig of pc-2700 ram
512mg video card ( sapphire radeon x1650)
600 watt powersupply ( new )
160 gig hard drive
direct x 9.0c

Any help is appriciated.

the hotfix is for the official drivers from AMD/ATi. There has been big issues with AGP cards with the Catalyst 7.xx drivers. Now the Catalyst 8.1 with the hotfix should work with AGP cards.
