[COLOR=Red]!!! DISCLAIMER !!! You test it at your own risk. I can not assume the damages it could do. You are on your own. It worked for me, but i can not assure that fix will work for your card! So if you are not ready to take the risk or, if you are not good at computer, dont even try it![/COLOR]
I found a way to install the 8.2 catalyst drivers on my Sapphire HD 2600 PRO Agp. The only way is to modify the inf file. D3D is working but i havent tested everything. It can be a solution, you can test it if nothing has worked before. (like for me) First of all, go and download the 8.2 display drivers http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/driverfiles/400.zip. Then try to install it. You will get a prompt "No display drivers found for your hardware or operating system". No way? Now go to : C:\ATI\SUPPORT\8-2"ati setup version"\Driver\Driver\XP_INF Open CX_59344.inf with notepad. Search the line "HD 2600 PRO". Right under, add those lines : Code:
"ATI Radeon HD 2600 Series" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9586 "ATI Radeon HD 2600 Series " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9587 Save the file. Now go to your config panel, hardware settings and install it manually. I am sorry, i cannot describe this, because i have a french Windows version. So it is not common to explain that in english . (if someone can describe this state, ill edit that step , Thanks)After installing the driver manually, you can see when you try the dxdiag test that 3D acceleration is working. Now go to AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities Download the Control center ONLY. Install it, reboot and you should have the 8.2 working. |
