me too. I have a sapphire OEM which is flashed to 7.008. I tried the trick that MMAACC did (check Rage3D.com sticky) where you alter the inf file but it doesn't work. Hmm. Any ideas anyone?

I also have the Sapphire card, and yes if you have a card and contact Sapphire they are happy to send you the 7.008 bios. I am running the bios fine - have been for over a month.
I got the "inf" error too but just went into device manager in XP and rightclicked the ATI card and selected update driver. Browsed to C:/ATI...found the inf file which starts cx i believe and used that. You will get a message about "this might not be for your hardware" just say ok and it installs the driver. Oh, before doing the above run the ATI setup so that after the inf error it installs the control panel. Only thing was i didnt get the stability tests running after the reboot. Stu |

I tried the reference drivers but they were useless so I tried STUARTD572's idea. Low and behold it worked, without the optimisations but who cares! How come we can get it to work that way? Oh by the way don't restart half way through or it won't work.

Fixed the INF Problem
I have a AIW 9200 LE (That I bought from walmart but thats another story) and after installing the drivers from the site, I encountered the INF problem.
Heres what I did: Now when I started I had a freshly formated machine with just the default drivers, but i assume you will have to uninstall your current ATI drivers for this to work if you are not willing to format. 1. I visited http://support.ati.com/ and went to the driver download section. Select the operating system then select the card type (in my case All In Wonder) and then choose whether its a Radeon, Rage128 ect. and click the driver link. Now pay close attention to products supported. If your's isn't listed there, then scroll down to products not supported and click yours. Now download the driver package NOT THE .NET FRAMEWORK. This .net framework is 2.0 and I'm pretty durn sure thats what gave me the problem seeing as when i used 1.1, it installed fine. 2. Now pay this site a visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...7-034D1E7CF3A3 and grab the file (.net framework 1.1) 3. Install .net framework 1.1 4. Install the driver 5. Hopefully enjoy. This worked for me but not everthing that works for one person will work for the next, but give it a shot. I dont know why ati would put the .net 2.0 on their site if you cant use it to install these drivers, but it might be because the install file was made before .net 2.0. Good Luck and if you can't get it to work shoot me an email at JT114881@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to bang my head on the desk with you. --JT |
