HD 2600 XT crashes / Omega drivers not installing

I bought an HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT iSilence III 512MB card a few weeks ago, and it consistently crashes to a BSOD whenever I run full-screen programs. It always happens when switching between display modes. I've tried everything under the sun; 3 different ATI driver versions, have run Driver Cleaner multiple times, have upgraded every other driver for my system, tried the card in a different (but similar) system, with the same results. ATI and HIS support have been no help (HIS never even responded).

The error given on the BSOD is a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error "address BF89412B." This apparently indicates a bad driver reference, hence I tried 3 different ATI driver versions, but the problem still occurs. I tried installing the Omega Radeon driver, but it goes through the install progress, then I get an error that says "There was a problem ... The parameter was incorrect."

Help with either finding the source of the problem and/or getting the Omega drivers (which may or may not fix the original problem) to install properly would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs are:

Windows XP SP2
Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
1 GB RAM (2x 512 MB)

(If any other specs are needed, I can look them up.)

I intend to build a completely new computer this summer (when I will actually have the time and money), but I would like to be able to get this card to function in the mean time, so I can feel like I didn't throw away over $100 for an expensive paperweight, so any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Witch card did you have before the HD2600, if it was nVidia:s I would do a clean OS install

Hi Churchill,

I was having the same probs with my 3870, until I installed the Catalyst Drivers and installed the HDMI drivers for the card (not supplied with the Catalysts). Get the HDMI drivers here:

AMD GAME Drivers and Utilities

And make sure you have the same version Catalyst drivers!!!
