PC resolution gets less when TV on

I have XP SP2, HD Radeon 2400, Omega 3.8.442

the problem i have is that normally the resolution on the pc monitor is 1280x1024, but when I connect a tv to the tv-out this turns back to 1024x768. The real problem in this is that I have connected a wireless TV transmitter (marmitek) to my TV out. This is always on, so my resolution is always set back. Only when i disconnect the tv out I can set the resolution back to 1280x1024.

Before the HD2400 I had the Sapphire radeon 9550 and i know there were some Omega versions which let me have 2 seperate resolutions at the same time.

How is this possible in the new omega versions?

System Specs

You need to use the extended desktop mode not the clone mode for the TV. I think that you can change it in the CP.

on a related note.
I run my LCD at 1440x900, my tv-out works great at 1024x768 using clone mode. However If I reboot or if I play a game my main screen LCD goes back to 1024x768 and I have to turn off the tv-out, change the screen size and then change it again back to 1440x900. It used to retain all these settings a couple of versions ago.
using latest omega drivers.
