exclamation Help Required- Uninstalling Drivers

Being a complete noob when it comes to most things other than listening to browsing the internet, playing games and listening to music on my computer, I've landed myself in some trouble with my drivers.

Basically, I have installed the latest drivers for my video card over the old ones, and I need help getting rid of the old ones, or both, so I'm left with, or can reinstall the new ones.

I tried following the 'uninstalling old drivers' guide on the driver site, but I didn't feel like taking any risks since in the screenshots in their guide they have 'ATI Software Uninstall Utility', 'ATI Control Panel', 'ATI Decoder', 'ATI Display Driver' and 'DAO', whereas I only have 'ATI Control Panel' and 'ATI Display Driver'.

Can anyone guide me safely through this?

Btw, I don't know if it's needed, but my graphics card is a crappy old X600 Pro.

Thanks.

I've uninstalled them both, but I can't reinstall the new one because it says it's not compatible with the display adapters in my system, what do I do?

Is it safe to restart my computer?

Since you got older card you might want to try a bit older drivers like the 7.XX series of Catalyst drivers.
You can get the drivers in here: http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/ati.htm

Yes it is safe. When you restart the windows will see new device and starts installing drivers for it just click cancel. That's how you avoid the VGA driver being installed.

And that's without installing the new driver?

That resolution being 640x480 is the normal VGA resolution what Windows will use when no drivers are installed. Now install the new drivers and reboot. Then set the resolution back to normal and you should be done.

OK, but the drivers and ATI uninstall utility are still on the programs list, I suppose I wasn't supposed to install the new one before restarting?

Sorry for my ongoing noobishness, but thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.

The normal way to update drivers would be uninstalling the old ones then reboot after the boot install new ones.
