Stuttering DVD Playback

I wanted to post this on R3D as they have a dedicated mobility forum but its down so :P

basically whenever I switch to my battery on my laptop dvd's and divx files stutter like none other

but the instant i plug it back in it works just fine again

It didnt do it when I got the laptop but its started doing it recently and cant figure out what the hell it is

Mobile P4 2.2Ghz
512MB PC2100 RAM
8x DVD-ROM
Mobility Radeon 9000 64MB

anyone have a clue?

I imagine your battery is quite new, but maybe check if there is a function which decrease the processor frequency when you're not plugged, in order to have a longer autonomy.

I think i figured it out

seems that when i install regular PowerDVD (which is what the new ATi DVD Player is based off) it works just fine as i can turn on Hardware DVD Support.

Seems maybe ATi's new DVD Player doesnt support the mobility cards at all yet
