Ati Mobility HD 2600 sound problems.. please help!

Okay so I just bought a gateway M-6850FX, and i love this machine. Vista was even running great on it i must admit. But, not enough. i needed XP.

I have some experience with locating the proper drivers, i've done it successfully for 10+ laptops, but this one i just cant figure out.

I cant get the sound to work. When I plug the laptop to my hdtv (via hdmi) my tv WILL output sound... but i have no functionality from my internal speakers.

All the information I can get on my sound card basically is "2 channel high definition" ..

IDT (sigmatel) dosnt give out drivers, they are 100% given by the manufacturers now.. i dont know, but please can someone help me!!!

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Have you selected the SPDIF as primary output? Since I think the audio out from hdmi is routed through SPDIF out.

cant..

My only mixer is ATI HD device, not my actual sound card. Which leads me to believe the graphics card has a sound device of its own... but that cant be...

set the ATI HD device as default sound out. If you have drivers that it needs installed.
