Omegas for HIS 3850 agp card?

hi folks, long time no see (its exactly been over one and a half years)

anyway I wouldnt come here if I wasnt in need of asking you for technical help.
in some days and counting I'll get my fresh new HIS radeon 3850 ice-Q Turbo with 512mb for agp and Ive asked myself if anyones gained some experience with this card.

also I am an Omega driver user practically since owning an ati chipset card. would immediately installing omega drivers for the card be advised or should I first grab generic ati drivers or better use the drivers on the install cd??

yeah pretty general question I know but the forum search dindt find any piece of information for this card. and I dont want anything to go wrong on the day of installing this baby so Im just simply precautious...

thx

Hi there long time no see!

I think the newest ATI/AMD hotfix drivers would do nicely since you have rather new card.

ok the card has been running flawlessly in my system for several days now. I have installed the ati catalyst 8.7 hotfix drivers for my hd3850 and got no big problems yet EXCEPT that some ground textures in battlefield 2 are messed up like this:

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6...reen076hr6.jpg
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/1...reen077di2.jpg

as you see almost everywhere are these black holes or shadows however you wanna call it. and they only appear on the ground not on any other texture like player models, vehicles or wall textures etc.
funny thing is: they are gone and not visible anymore if I keep a certain distance to them.

Im playing bf2 with...
@1280x1024 pxls
4xaa
all texture settings set to high
dynamic lightning/shadows high
100%view distance
(practically all settings maxed out)

my system:
P4 3ghz ht
2gb ddrram 400mhz dc
his hd3850 iceq3 turbo 512mb
msi ms7048
200gb seagate hdd
creative sb aud2zs
winxp home sp2
(no overclocked components)

Did you tested the CAT 8.8?? I think they should have the support for AGP cards.

I tested on my HIS HD3850 AGP and 8.8 stated that it could not find a driver for my hardware and closed.

I have a Sapphire HD3850 on the way. I was doing some research on the driver situation and found this on Guru3D forums:

"I have an AGP HD3850, whenever a new driver is released i manually insert this into the CX_67975.inf file
"ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9515"

I checked and this line is in the file in the 8.7 hotfix and not in the 8.8 file. I can't check it as the card has not arrived yet but I would be curious if someone feels brave!
