Re: Driver for graphic card ATI Radeon HD 3650
Along those same lines, are you trying to get the drivers for a PC or laptop? If it's for a PC card then the official drivers should be working for you. If it's for a laptop you will need to do one of 2 things:
1) Check the manufacturers website of your laptop for XP drivers for your graphics. If they don't have it try other manufacturers websites, such as LG (who have XP drivers for their R710 series which uses that card). 2) At the top of this site you will see a menu running along the top. Highlight the one that says "Tools", and within the list you will see a program called "Mobility Modder". This tool will modify the official AMD driver to support other cards, including the 3650. Just follow the instructions that are on the page. Of note: of late I have been noticing that a lot of the current laptops (the LG R710 included) that use the 3600 or 3800 series cards are infact hybrid systems where both the ATI Radeon card and the built in Intel graphics are usable. Under Vista you can easily switch back and fourth between which one you want to use, and this helps to conserve battery power by using the more power hungry graphics chip only when needed. Thing is that under XP this does not work, and it will in fact show you 2 display adapters, but only the Intel one will work. No matter what you do the Intel one takes precedence, and the ATI one will not work. To correct this you have to go into the bios, and look for an option that is related to how the system deals with the graphics. Under the LG R710 bios it was something that allowed for switching graphics, with the 2 options being: Switchable, or External. Switching this to "External" turns off the Intel graphics, and makes the ATI one the primary card. Once you reboot into Windows XP that is the only one you will see. You will still need to use either the driver supplied by the laptop manufacturer for XP, or a modded set of drivers in order to get it to work, and if your laptop has an HDMI port you will need the Realtek ATI HDMI Audio driver for that too. |
