ati2vag puzzle

Alright. This has boggled my mind for a while now, hope one of you peeps can help me figure this out. Here is my system:
AMD 64 X2 6400+
Windows XP SP/3
4 gigs patriot mem
ASUS M2R32-MVP mobo
2x ATI HD2600's 512
Im using ATT v. 1.3.6.1042 and it seems to have slowed the frequency of the problem, but hasn't solved it.

While using the internet, at random times my graphics will lock up but I can still move the mouse cursor around but nothing responds and after a few seconds the screen goes black. If I have music going, it will keep playing in the background. Maybe 1 in 15 times, it will go to the blue screen where it says video is stuck in an infinate loop thanks to ati2vag, and I have to reboot. This ONLY happens while using the internet, and in both mozilla and IE. It seems to happen when I switch windows to fast or click on links before the page is fully loaded, but is random. I can go a week without it happening and then have it happen 3 times in a half hour. I play COD4 all day long on medium high settings and it has never happend once.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers a million times and like I said, I switched to ATT and it seems to have helped some.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: ati2vag puzzle

my friend has a problem like yours. mouse works nothing moves screen goes black but i didnt notice any bluescreens (i noticed it happening while extracting a 7z archive)

768 ddr2 (333 i think)
nvidia card (5600?)
intel cpu
no name psu
nvidia chipset on the motherboard

you could try setting a fixed size for your pagefile
control panel>system>advanced>performance settings>advanced>virtual memory>set a custom size (1024 for both, make it higher later on if windows gives you a msg about increasing your pagefile size) then press set and reboot

not sure if that'll make a difference for the bluescreen, next time it happens, see if theres a STOP error and write down the numbers after it
