Omega Drivers for Radeon

Hello All,

New poster here. I got a Sapphire HD2600XT AGP card last summer and got it to work great by using the Omega Drivers. I recently did a wipe-and-reload of my whole system (picked up a virus), and I can't seem to get the Omega Drivers to work any more. I tried both 4.8.442 and an older version, and it did not work at all--nothing but BSOD for me.

I've installed the just-released 9.2 hotfix, and I can do basic stuff now, but I still seem to be having a tremendous amount of instability. Just turning on iTunes and using the "cover-flow" option is enough to crash me. Do any of you have suggestions for a stable set of drivers?

FYI - I haven't reinstalled any games yet, but I am a Team Fortress 2 and Portal player, and I had almost no problem with those games prior to the crash. I'm pretty skeptical that they would work right now, though.

System Specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA N-400 Pro2
RAM: 1.5 gigs, dual-channel
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD2600XT, AGP 8x
currently running two LCD monitors for day-to-day and 1 for gaming

I'd appreciate any advice out there. Several folks on other threads have mentioned the 8.12 hotfix as promising. I had this system working great prior to the wipe, so I know that I must be forgetting something obvious.

Thanks.

Re: Omega Drivers for Radeon

Sure enough, it was something stupid. I had forgotten to update the drivers for my motherboard chipset when I did the system rebuild. Now that I've put in the new motherboard drivers, the 9.2 hotfix seems to be working like a charm--even better than the Omega Drivers I was using before.
