Please help me with my driver issues

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and I'm very new to this. I need someone to help me please.
I just reformated my pc and I want to install the lates ATI driver for my video card. My video card is a HIS HD 3850 IceQ 3 Turbo 512MB (256bit) GDDR3 AGP. HIS has very horrible driver support b/c they dont update their drivers very often.

I want to install the laters HD3850 driver from ati.com which is version 9.5 but for some reason there is a message that says "driver error, no compatible hardware is found" (i'm sure this question has been posted in this website already)

So please can someone tell me how to install the lates 9.5 ATI driver into my "pain in the @ss" HIS video card.

First up, welcome to forums.

What you need are what's known as the "AGP Hotfix" drivers. These drivers are for HD2000 and HD3000 series AGP cards, and should fix the issue you are having.

Why separate drivers for these AGP cards? You got me on that one.

Anyways, take a look THIS page. This is the direct page to the current hotfix drivers. Unfortunately, the release schedule between the other Catalyst drivers and these can be a little... slow. As of now they are still at Catalyst 9.4.

Tipstaff, thank u so much sir. I was going crazy tying to figure out why the heck it the regular driver would not install. But I went to the link u gave me, download it the hotfix, installed it and now it works with the the 9.4 driver version, heck i was stuck using the 8.12 dirver version before i reformated the computer so this is good.

By the way, I'm using windows xp 32bit w/sp3 edition, and I know that direct10 is not supported in xp. Now I know that my HIS card supports directX10 so I was wondering if u would know of anything that I can do to windows xp so that I can installl directX10 instead of directX9

Technically, no. Microsoft has said that Direct 10 is for Vista (and Windows 7, but DirectX 11 will be Vista/Windows 7 if I remember correctly).

Now, I say "technically" because there was a group, the Alky Project, working on a hack to get DX10 working in XP. I haven't looked into it for a long time, so I'm not sure to what point they've got to in it. It's also not 100%, meaning not all games will work with it. With each new release they add more games. You can get some more info HERE, and the last version of the hack HERE (at least that's the last on that I have).

Thanks you once again. U were very helpful and without your information I would still be pulling my hair.
I will test the directX10 for xp and see if is stable. I have a couple of games that I've been waiting to play!!

first of all go the ati site if that doesn't work go to the site the laptop manufactures website. if its doesn't have then ure pretty screwed

the other option is to go to the omega site for your drivers though i'm not sure if they will be there.
