I've been using the ATI Omega Drivers for my ATI Radeon 9550 graphics card, and the performance increase has been great. However I cannot notice much of a difference in online games. I was thinking that the problem was that in online games, you have go through a patcher to start it cause of the secruity, so the profile would apply the changes to the patcher but not the game itself. Is this true? If so is there a way to get it to carry on to the game as well... Also note the game I'm trying to get this to work for is Dragonica... site is below.

Re: Question about Omega Drivers
Depends on what your talking about as far as performance goes with online games. Are you talking just visuals or actual game play and over all experience? Internet speeds, latency, amount of people on that server/zone can make a good looking game feel like they play like crap because of choppiness and low frame rates because of it.
Is this a game you were playing before you upgraded drivers and had seen improvements in other games and just not in that game? Could be game mechanics and graphics engine as well. There are just a lot of variables to online games. |

Re: Question about Omega Drivers
Yes I have noticed in several other games, perferably ones that do not require a patcher, that I can run them on either medium-high or highest graphic settings, they look amazing, and give no problems. However with online games and patchers, I'm still running it at the bare minimum. I can 100% guarentee you its computer slowness and not internet lag. So is there any way to get the settings to run through the patchers? Also a few other games that this dosent work with.

Re: Question about Omega Drivers
Sorry, been sick and away from the pc.
What are the rest of your system specs? For R.O.H.A.N your card is below min req's which in self shouldn't matter to much as their min is a 9600 but it is going to use more juice from your CPU to handle some of the instructions and running it a med settings probably isn't going to happen. City of Heroes and the first link you posted are older games so I'm not sure where the issue is there (the other two links don't seem to work) however the patch systems shouldn't have anything to do with individual display settings. They generally patch core game files that fix bugs and add content to the game and don't generally have much to do with how the game renders on individual cards. I've played multiple online games from EQ to Anarchy Online to AA and WoW and all had patch systems in place and none of them affected individual display properties unless it was an over haul of the graphics engine they were using. Logging into any game server doesn't change individual game settings for that particular game though. Those settings are all stored locally and your specific machine dictates how to handle the graphics for that game. If your not seeing any speed increases in some of these but you are seeing it in others then it could just be game mechanics or the rest of the system specs that are the bottle neck. |

Re: Question about Omega Drivers
Lol now I'm even more messed up T.T cause I run Rohan on the highest settings rofl. And forgot the previous statements, I got a new question for ya. Theres a new game I'm playing, maybe you've heard of it s4.en.alaplaya.eu
Also I got an answer from the omega drivers person about the previous one so thats all fixed, he told me to do something in the advanced tweaks, I forget what, anyways. Whats wrong with that game now, is that, even tho I can run something like Rohan on the highest without lockups/hangs now, I get a strange 10-30 second hang randomly in that game even tho my requirements surpasse it. When I'm getting the hang, task manager usually says my CPU is at around 80% mem is only being used for 30%. So I'm not sure what could cause it, its sort of a random hang but it isnt. Like when I load up shops, or sometimes inventory, and when I enter rooms, or strangely after I die in a match. I get a horrible hang where the screen freezes for that time, but the music and stuff is playing, then it unlocks later. But its a constant action game so you could probably see how that blows. Any help would be great. If ya need more info let me know, also glad you got better. System Specs are.... AMD Athalon 2900+ 2.0 GHZ proccessor overclocked to 2.4 GHZ 2 Gigs of Memory Standard DSL internet, 150kb downstream, 40kb upstream If ya need something more, let me know. |

Re: Question about Omega Drivers
lol I've got no clue man. Able to run Rohan at max but none of the rest even though specs are way above requirements, probably just the game then, really don't know.
I had the hang up thing once in WoW and ended up having to turn down the shadows option in game in order to fix it. With the wow thing, it took two days of checking the forums and then playing with options before I figured out what it was, rather irritating. It's only happening when your inbetween screens like opening something or after matches though? Happen at all during a match or while your just sitting around someplace with other people running by? |
