Hello to all,
Looking for recommendations on installing this new AGP Visiontek graphics card. PC: Dell GX260 w/ Intel 845G, 2 GB DDR, with DVD player, Dell conservatively rates the power at 250W but it has been reportedly tested out to 345W max, AGP bus is 4x @ 1.5v, and running WinXP pro SP3. Dell claims this card should work with my PC. Current video is an Intel 82845G chip which does not support a new 23" monitor. Prefer to stay with WinXPpro O/S and not make other hardware upgrades at this time. Need graphics support for one 1920x1080 monitor, dvd playback and 2D graphics programs (not CAD). HDTV support is optional. Gaming and 3D graphics not required. Been reading of problems with ATI software/drivers for their AGP cards. I recall reading of an ATI version that was very stable for AGP cards, but I don't recall the version number. The install CD provided with the card is ATI 7.6. I will compromise some performance for a stable and trouble free installation. What is the least problematic install? Is this fairly new 9-12 AGP-hotfix_xp32_dd_ccc.exe install safe for the HD 2600 Pro? Or is some older version such as the 8-10 more stable? Should I update the install with Omega 4.8.442 Drivers or is SP3 for XP a problem for these older Omega drivers? My first post on this forum, please excuse any miscues. Thanks for any input. Rich |

Re: HD 2600 PRO AGP Installation
use the catalyst 9.12 agp hotfix driver. It's more stable than any other version for me.
