Default Post 8500DV is killing me !!!

i'm having major problems with this card. after a few minutes of playing a game, it gets choppy, sound starts to skip (like a cd skipping), until everything just freezes and i have to reboot. can someone plz give me a hand/ offer a few suggestions? ati has been brutal at getting back to me, i sent a problem report 2 weeks ago, still no reply and its too late to return the card. I've got all the newest drivers and installed them properly. HELP!!

asus p4s333/c
sis 645
p4 1.6
windows xp pro
DirectX Version 008.000.000.000
256 meg, DDR 2100
maxtor 80 gig
LG 10X dvd
300W PSU
no overclock
radeon 8500DV 64MB

Thanks

DirectX Version: DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810)

Thats what mine shows....wonder why its not detecting the version info incorrectly

Try running DXDIAG in the run box to see if you can run all of the directX tests

all tests went A1, you're right though, diag lists my directx version as 8.1 (4.08.01.0810) don't know why the problem report listed the other version..... although in the problem report it listed my o s as Windows 2000 -- 5.1.2600... when i have xp pro. weird

did you use the feedback form on the site for the catalyst or just the old form?

one thing is what all do you have installed as far as Sis Chipset drivers go?

Also what is your AGP aperature set at?

Any other settings that you think might be suspect?

Theres a few reasons for stuttering of that kind

The other thing could be its not gonna be fun since you bought a DV

They are lower clocked than the rest as the higher operating stock speeds cause problems with some of the digital components

Thats why they came out with the AIW8500 non DV edition

It runs at full stock speed and has everything but the digital editing functions

Its still a full AIW card package just not the digital side of things

Pfft...My 8500DV plays any game I throw at it smoothly enough, and UT at 1600x1200 is perfectly smooth.

It may only be 230/190 but it still rocks!
