Default Post Need a little assistance with the 2102 XP Driver Beta

Hi guys, I am new to using Beta/Leaked drivers. I tried to install the XP version of these drivers, but when it gets to the actual driver files, it says Setup cannot copy them.

The exact error message I am getting is:

"Setup cannot copy the file ati2mtag.sy_.
Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert "ATI Technologies Inc. Installation DISK (VIDEO)' in the drive you specify."

Then I have the option of browsing for the file, but even by doing that, it just gives me this error again. If I skip that file, it does the same for the next one, and so on. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

*Cross-posted from the official driver thread*

Thanks,

Aelwyn2000

uninstally your current drivers then try to install these after you reboot

Hmm,

When I reboot, it loads up my previous driver set before I can elect to try the new BETA ones. But I'm not sure if that is the problem. I don't even get the install program to work.
Why would a previous driver installed stop it from even unpacking? None of the other driver releases work that way...

I'm not using any of the service packs. Do I need one to be able to install the Beta Radeon driver?

Default Post GOT IT!

Thanks to Crash Override and everyone who browsed my topic! I figured it out. For some reason, I couldn't install the driver from where I had it unzipped in My Documents. Once I unzipped and installed from Desktop, it worked.

Thanks again

ah ok

usually I dont keep files in the my documents area for downloads.........those usually go in a file I make called My Download Folder......then I subdivide into Categories so things are easy to find........i think theres still a bug in XP regarding the My Documents folder and drivers or windows updates not working right
