Default Post Radeon 8500DV New Driver Installation Problems

I cannot get the new official drivers to work more than a couple of minutes before my system freezes. I have an Iwill XP 333R (XP 1600+ and 512 mb memory) with no cards other than the All-In-Wonder 8500DV. All previous driver builds have worked without any problem. I have tried removing the old drivers first, installing over the old drivers, editing the registry, leaving the registry alone, removing all MMC software, etc., but nothing works. When I reinstall the 6071 drivers, they work fine. Has anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions on how to fix? ATI tech support (e-mail and phone) have proven worthless.

Have you tried reinstalling your OS?

sometimes the registry and other things just get too far gone to install drivers properly

make sure your bios settings are right as well

Thanks for the reply. I have adjusted my bios settings every way imaginable (shadow, no shadow, aperture size, etc.) to no avail. Reinstalling Win XP is a major undertaking for me because of the number of applications I have installed. I do try to keep the registry orderly, however. Any other thoughts would be a big help! Again, thanks.
