Cool! Radeon Omega Drivers 2.4.74 for Win2k/XP

Hi there, new drivers, you know the drill

What's New?

* Based on the official Catalyst 3.6 ATI drivers. (9x/ME/2k/XP)
* Added support for the following chipsets: (9x/ME/2k/XP)
Radeon 9600 TX
* Fixed the "Card not supported" message, now the drivers should install in any card without problems. (9x/ME/2k/XP)
* Experimental Mobility Support in 9x/ME (installs differently, let me know if it installs correctly). (9x/ME)
* Added some new tweaks that should improve performance. (9x/ME/2k/XP)
* Updated the Overclocking utility to version 1.800d. (2k/XP)
* Re-Enabled support for 1280x768 resolution. (2k/XP)
* The 9500->9800 and 9700->9800 hack is still avaiable as an install option. (2k/XP)
* The 9x/ME drivers still don't have the hacked driver incorporated, sorry. (9x/ME)

Get them here.

Enjoy!

OK, I was hoping against hope, but, still have the problem inherent with the CAT 3.5 and 3.6 official drivers:

Cannot reboot system with TV Out connected. Doing so gives me an 'invalid sync' error on my main monitor and it goes to a black screen.

I'm totally aware that this is an ATi problem, but hope that someone can get to the bottom of it. The last set I could do it with no trouble was the CAT 3.4.....where I'm heading now.

Enjoy!

Cleared everything with DC1.7 before!

I again wasn't able to use the installer. "Not supported" message still pops up. Had to put them on manually again.

Card: Radeon 8500LE

But I don't mind at all, as long as I get them running!

And thank you very much, Omegadrive...they ARE running pefectly so far!

Same here on 9700np & W2000.
So did install the cat 3.6 again, and ran the omega setup over it,
now it is using the secondary display as main display driver, which I normaly disable in hardware
*realy should be an option to install or not install this device*

Question: C2_RAD_OMEGA.inf = secondary?

update: Fixed it, runnin ok now

Working great. Uninstalled previous, went into Safe Mode, used driver cleaner 1.8 and then rebooted and installed in normal windows. Running great in all games so far.

Got a 100 point boost in 3dmark2003 over the 3.5 Omega's. GJ man.

oh yeah, perfect IQ too.

Been waiting for these puppies...

I uninstalled OMEGA 3.5's and used DriverHeaven Drive Leaner, urgh...Cleaner (it's 2:20 am PST) both cab and driver clean up) and got error "Card not supported" . The drivers install fine if you choose to OVERWRITE a currently installed official ATI driver or the Windows XP generic driver (same prob with Omega 3.4's). This problem arises only when I dump the old drivers completely to FRESH install Omegas.

I then manually installed them and upon reboot, was asked to install driver again. Followed prompts and all is fine.

THESE DRIVERS ROCK!!! They are SMOOTH...very little jerkiness.

I get sporadic/random vertical flashes (red and yellow) that stretch from top to bottom while playing the classic Jane's USAF, MY benchmark program, but I can live with that.

Thanks OMEGA...I gotta go to PAYPAL and DONATE ("I got 5 on it" Tupac Shakur...lol).

Omega says not to install his contorl panel over an ATI control panel...can I install an Omega control panel over an Omega control panel ie Omega 3.6 over Omega 3.5, simply OVERWRITING the installed Omega 3.5 files, not uninstalling them?

Jasper

What is the best program to disable "Fast Writes"?

What is the best program to disable "Fast Writes"?

I simply go to the ADVANCED TAB in the graphics PROPERTIES and select SMARTGART, turn FAST WRITE off, then go to SERVICES (Windows XP) and DISABLE ATI SMART. If you don't disable then SMART a-- Gart will Re enable the FAST WRITE. SMART GART appears to run only at startup but then shuts down when there is nothing to do.

I`ve always had this, when you close windows on the desktop
or after you close the display settings or when you shut down an explorer window
it redraws the desktop very slowly. I always assumed it was XP.
avis and mpegs are fine though (ACEMegaCodecS)

Or just disable it in your MoBo BIOS. That's the best way to disable it

It's recommended to clean the system. But if you havn't got any problems, then there is no need.
