Dawn + new Omegas = no Fairy

hi all,

since i'm using the new omegas, the NVidia Dawn Demo doesn't work anymore. I've heard of this Problem from another user who says he's not he only one, so the Prob has to be in the Drivers. It always hangs up with the following Message:

Quote:
"This Program requires an NVIDIA GeforceFX-class GPU or better to run.

Unsupported features:

NV_point_sprite
I hate NVIDIA but i love them Demos , so WTF?

Is there any Solution for this available?

Why do the point sprites not work!?! Strange Failure..

Is there any Tweak in the Driver that could effect this and that can be switched with a Tweaker?

Or is there any other solution available for this?

no, that's no solution..i'm playing Counter-Strike an i need the 3.6's. This really has to be some tweak in the driver, i hope to find it....

hm...i could do this, but it's not the way i handle Problems. I simply want to use this Omega 3.6 even if Dawn doesn't work. I don't change a driver for one single application. I'm hoping for a solution (a patch, new OGL-Wrapper, some Tweak etc.) that will do it, otherwise it...will not work.

*edit* Say! The problem your having, was it when using the 2.4.74 Omega's or the NEW as of 3August03 Omega 2.4.74a drivers??? I'm curious b/c I didnt really think about it but the Cat 3.6 Omega's I downloaded on 8-2-03 were version 2.4.74 and as of 8-3-03 they have the 2.4.74a drivers listed as new/current Cat 3.6's. So maybe that has the fix needed for dawn to work on Cat 3.6's? Just a thought I had after posting this.
*/edit*

So under the Omega Cat 3.5's you can actually run the Dawn Demo with our Radeon 9700 Pro's and such? I had no idea! Do you run the demo straight up or do you need to load some 3rd party proggy to make it think you have an nvidia or something?

I'm real curious b/c I'd love to see Dawn with some uber Radeon power man you just made me smile for the first time in a while The only nVidia card out that I even like is the Asus 5900 series w/that sweet copper cooler But I'm sticking with my 9700 Pro for as long as I can anyway, would appreciate any info on this Dawn demo w/Radeon cards that ya can toss my way

tks

IMHO, ATI should make their own tech demos, and not copy or modify someone else's, especially nVidia's.

ATI is currently the video card company doing things right, imo. Why copy someone else's stuff? Looks kinda cheap, again, imho.

AFAIK ATI haven't copied anything, the wrapper that allowed the Dawn demo to play on an ATI card was a 3rd party development
